XLP initially entered the scene after remixing Electric Forest‘s beloved “Prize Cart”. After gaining traction on Reddit, the festival played XLP‘s remix at their main stage after Bassnectar in 2017 and it became a viral hit with the Forest Family. One year later, XLP was added to the artist lineup for Electric Forest 2018. In the weeks before the festival, he did a Reddit AMA coordinated by the Electric Forest team and was a guest judge in the first “Prize Cart” remix contest.
Fast forward to 2020, XLP has polished his sound and is ready to break into the larger EDM scene. He has entered Disciple‘s “Biggest Remix Competition Of All Time”, in which a set of 18 songs are available for remixing and will have winners officially released on a Disciple compilation album. XLP entered twice, turning Eliminate‘s ‘You’re Gonna Love Me’ into a shiny bass house banger, and Dirtyphonics‘ ‘No Mercy’ into an aggressive and punchy bass house track that doesn’t hold back.
His danceable high-energy sets have enough singalongs to warrant a daisy bra and has enough meaty bass drops to warrant a neck brace, so he definitely has enough variety for everyone. He has been doing a series of Twitch live streams throughout quarantine and has featured guest mixes with rising artists such as ANIMLZ (winners of a recent Barely Alive remix contest). It’s up in the air as to who will win the Disciple competition, but XLP is ready to hit the ground running if he’s selected as a winner.
