6 Tracks You Won’t Believe Were Released 7 Years Ago!

Martin Garrix & Firebeatz – Helicopter
In 2014, chart shredder and mastermind behind the #1 hit worldwide ‘Animals’Martin Garrix teamed up alongside fellow Dutchmen Firebeatz to bring you ‘Helicopter’. The result of which was, to no surprise, a massive festival anthem that broke dancefloors across the world. Peak time, main stage, big room electro of the highest quality grade available from two acts that have continued to revolutionize the electronic dance music scene. This collab was released on the 17th of February, 2014.

The Chainsmokers – #SELFIE
Before massive worldwide hits such as ‘Roses’‘Closer’‘Don’t Let Me Down’, and ‘Something Just Like This’, there was ‘#SEFLIE’. Originally released as a free download but later picked up by Steve Aoki‘s Dim Mak Records for an official release, ‘#SELFIE’ made fun of the oversaturation of selfies online. The Chainsmokers, who have excelled at making chart-topping releases, managed to make a satirical track with an energetic and upbeat drop which helped this single become a success on the radio and dance floors. This single was released on the 28th of February, 2014.

W&W – Bigfoot
Whether it’s associated with the most feared monster truck of all time or an abominable Yeti snowman, “BIGFOOT” has long been the symbol of power and monstrosity that rises above everything else. And in 2014, the big fella had hit the dance floor, courtesy of W&W unleashing their single ‘Bigfoot’ to the world. ‘Bigfoot’ is an ice storm of smothering sound that builds with pulsating synths before the mountain cracks under the weight of a titanic drop. W&W‘s ‘The Code’ was largely regarded as the track of Miami Music Week and Ultra 2013, and with ‘Bigfoot’W&W was poised to make some serious noise. This anthem was released on the 10th of February, 2014.

Mr Probz – Waves (Robin Schulz Remix)
2013 saw Mr Probz release the emotionally driven single ‘Waves’. 2014 came around and the rising producer Robin Schulz put his touches on the single and took it from being a hit to a bonafide worldwide chart-dominator. Having impressed with some of his own releases, his remix of ‘Waves’ catapulted Robin Schulz‘s career into full gear, gaining over 1 billion streams since its release. This remix was released on the 4th of February, 2014.

KSHMR – Megalodon
Ever since it appeared as an ID track in DJ sets and radio shows by the likes of Hardwell, Sander van Doorn, and Nicky Romero, hype, rumors and speculations surround this track. Who produced it, what’s the title, where did it come from? After it was featured in the teaser video for 2014s Spinnin’ Sessions event in Miami, even more discussion followed. With the creator announced as the then-unknown KSHMR, the mystery continued. But evidently the track spoke for itself with its powerful drop and infectious melodies. This single was released on the 24th of February, 2014.

Stadiumx & Taylr Renee – Howl At The Moon
Originally premiered by Nicky Romero at his label night at ADE, ‘Howl At The Moon’ is an uplifting progressive house masterpiece complete with ear-catching vocals, gorgeous melodies, and big vibes. Stadiumx and Talyr Renee‘s work proved to be a massive success, gaining support from big names such as Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, Hardwell, Tiesto, and others. This single was released on the 24th of February, 2014.
