Chris Lake And Riva Starr Team Up To Deliver The Groove With ‘Beat Freak’ As Part Of Black Book ID’s Chapter 1!

The first in a series of mixtapes from Black Book Records, the label founded by GRAMMY-nominated, chart-topping producer Chris Lake – is out now.

Chris Lake says, “With Black Book ID’s, we’re aiming to give fans a sense of discovery, with exclusive, previously unreleased recordings from artists they love and songs from new artists that we’re excited about.”

Lake collaborated with Riva Starr and lau.ra on ‘Beat Freak’, the riveting new dancefloor anthem that kicks off Chapter 1. Black Book and Astralwerks teamed up to release ‘Beat Freak’ as a single. Born in Italy and based in East London, Riva Starr has released a string of critically acclaimed albums, beginning with 2010s ‘If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade’. He joined up with Fatboy Slim on the hit single ‘Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat’ and has also collaborated with such artists as Green Velvet, Armand Van Helden, Robert Owens, and Tiger Stripes. lau.ra, who co-wrote ‘Beat Freak’ and is featured on vocals, is the new solo project from UK-based producer/DJ/vocalist Laura Bettinson, who is one-third of Ultraísta with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. Hailed as a “one-woman powerhouse” by BBC Radio 1’s Annie Maclau.ra has amassed over 20 million combined streams on Spotify.

“Riva Starr hit me up on WhatsApp as he had an idea he wanted to share with me for a track,” recalls Lake. “We’ve known each other for many years, but it felt like the right time to do something together and ‘Beat Freak’ is the result.”

NightFunk – who has released massive tracks like ‘Romeo’ and ‘Music’ – offers up a moody remix of ‘Like I Don’t Exist’ – the recently released single from Nicky Night Time, aka Nick Routledge, co-founder/frontman of Van She. New tracks from two rising stars round out Black Book ID’s Chapter 1. Vienna-based Dubesque contributes the cosmic, contagious ‘Trippin’ while Fourword enchants with the incendiary ‘Snake Charmer’.
