Eddy Palermo Announces World-First 50K Run While DJing Live “BPMATHON”
Miami DJ and entrepreneur Eddy Palermo announces BPMATHON, a world-first challenge to run 50K while DJing live at The Underline in Miami on August 8th 2026.
Taking place on Saturday 8th August 2026, BPMATHON will see Eddy Palermo attempt to complete a 50K run while performing a continuous live DJ set, combining two of his greatest passions, music and endurance sport, in an event designed to inspire and create meaningful impact.
BPMATHON will take place at The Underline, Miami’s 10-mile linear park and urban trail stretching from Brickell to Dadeland. A landmark public space beneath the Metrorail, The Underline has become a vibrant corridor where millions come to move, live and grow together. To make the challenge possible, Eddy will perform using a custom-built, self-pushed DJ rig on wheels, allowing him to run and DJ live simultaneously throughout the full 50K challenge.
The initiative will raise money for Friends of The Underline, a Miami-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming public space into opportunities for healthier, more active living. In a world increasingly shaped by AI, screens and social media, Friends of The Underline’s mission is to encourage people to be active, move their bodies, and decompress from the stresses of modern life through running, biking and walking. The BPMATHON aims to help more people build healthier habits and reconnect with the outdoors through accessible, community-driven movement.
During BPMATHON, Eddy’s event brand ZENSKI will also activate along the course with a live pop-up party experience on the route. Designed to transform sections of the race path into immersive music moments, the activation will bring together runners, spectators, and Miami’s local music community through sound, movement and energy. Founded by Eddy in 2024, ZENSKI has evolved into a Miami-based events platform known for immersive decor, inclusive experiences, and a commitment to female-forward lineups within electronic music culture.

“BPMATHON is the fusion of endurance running with the magic of music. The idea came about when I saw videos online of people running 5Ks while DJing, and I said to myself, “why not run 50K?”. This is a real challenge for me because just running 50K without DJing is difficult, and just DJing for seven hours without running is difficult. Doing both at the same time will definitely push me to a new limit.”
Estimated to take seven hours, BPMATHON is as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one. Running 50K alone is a major feat. DJing continuously for seven hours requires intense concentration, stamina and energy. Combining both simultaneously creates an entirely new level of endurance.
Born in Miami to Cuban and Italian parents and raised in Weston, Florida, Eddy’s life has long been shaped by music, sports, and passion. From discovering his love of electronic music as a teenager at Ultra Music Festival then later spending hours at Club Space, to building a career in events, sales and entrepreneurship, he has consistently pushed himself beyond conventional limits. Between 2020 and 2025, Eddy completed 14 endurance races, including 7 Ironman competitions and 7 marathons, using endurance sport as a foundation for discipline, resilience and mental strength. Those same values now sit at the heart of BPMATHON.

“The deeper purpose behind this is that music and running are both huge passions of mine, and there’s nothing more I want to do than make a positive impact on the world through music. If this inspires even just one person to get out there and pursue their passions, or start running, this is a huge success. We’re raising money in support of Friends of The Underline, helping to encourage more people to get outside, be active, and step away from the stresses of modern life through running, biking, walking, and movement.”
At its core, BPMATHON is about proving what can happen when passion meets discipline. It is a challenge built not only around pushing boundaries, but around inspiring others to pursue ambitious goals, prioritise wellbeing, and redefine their perceived limits.
BPMATHON marks the first chapter in a wider global movement uniting music, endurance and wellness, created to inspire communities, promote positive lifestyle choices and encourage people to push beyond their perceived limits, with plans to curate further BPMATHON events globally.

David Guetta to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star following decades of dance music impact and the growth of his Monolith shows
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has selected David Guetta to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of its Class of 2027. The recognition follows a career that has played a major role in dance music’s global growth. From early club releases to worldwide hits such as When Love Takes Over and Titanium, David Guetta helped bring electronic production into mainstream pop on a scale few DJs had achieved before him. More than two decades later, his releases, festival appearances and Monolith shows continue to reach audiences around the world. The honour offers an opportunity to look back at his influence and the different stages of his career.

What the Hollywood Walk of Fame Honour Recognises
The Hollywood Walk of Fame named David Guetta in the Recording category alongside Karol G, Sia, Lil Wayne, Linkin Park, The Ramones, Smashing Pumpkins, Grandmaster Flash, Marc Shaiman and the late Waylon Jennings. The list spans several generations and genres, placing electronic music alongside pop, hip-hop, rock and musical composition. It also places David Guetta among artists whose work has influenced how their respective genres are represented across the wider music industry.
For dance music, his inclusion has particular significance when considering how the industry presented DJs before David Guetta’s commercial rise. Producers often remained in the credits, while vocalists became the names most listeners associated with a track. David Guetta changed that relationship through collaborations where his name received equal prominence alongside globally recognised singers. This made the producer part of each release’s public identity and helped establish the DJ as a recording artist in his own right.
David Guetta’s Impact and Influence on Dance Music
David Guetta’s influence began long before electronic music became a regular presence on pop radio. His early career developed through the Paris club scene during the rise of house music in France. After establishing himself as a DJ, he focused more closely on production and released Just a Little More Love in 2002. His international profile increased throughout the decade before One Love marked a major turning point in 2009. When Love Takes Over with Kelly Rowland and Sexy Bitch with Akon paired house production with vocalists already known to mainstream audiences. Those releases also placed David Guetta’s name at the front of songs heard far beyond dance music.
That crossover reached a larger scale through Nothing but the Beat, which featured Sia, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida and Taio Cruz. Tracks including Titanium, Without You and Turn Me On succeeded across clubs, radio and international charts. They kept the producer central to each release instead of pushing him behind the featured vocalist. As EDM expanded during the early 2010s, more DJs received top billing and worked with major pop and hip-hop artists. David Guetta did not create that change alone, but the reach of his releases gave the model global visibility. His work showed that a producer could become one of the most recognisable names attached to a song.
His career continued to develop after that period through projects connected to different parts of electronic music. Jack Back gave David Guetta a separate outlet for house and club releases. His work with MORTEN introduced Future Rave, adding a darker direction to their festival music. More than a decade after his first crossover success, I’m Good (Blue) with Bebe Rexha returned him to the top of charts around the world. The track earned a Grammy Award nomination and later passed two billion streams on Spotify. Its success showed that David Guetta could still lead one of the world’s biggest dance-pop records years after the early-2010s EDM boom.

The Growth of David Guetta’s Monolith Shows
The growth of David Guetta’s Monolith shows has carried that longevity into his live career. What began as a production concept for club settings later expanded into large stadium events centred on his catalogue. In June 2026, David Guetta played three consecutive sold-out Ultimate Monolith Show dates at the Stade de France. The run sold approximately 240,000 tickets across the three nights.
The production featured a 32-metre monolith structure and a 60-metre curved screen. This gave the show a scale far beyond his regular festival and Ibiza appearances. Early club records, global pop collaborations and newer releases all appeared across the stadium run, connecting the different phases of his career within one performance. For an artist who began in Paris clubs, selling out one of France’s largest venues for three nights showed how far his live career had progressed.

New EDM Friday July 24 brings together new singles, collaborations, EP releases, and bass music projects covering progressive, techno, house, hard dance, trap, and experimental electronic music. From Martin Garrix and U2 with Fireflies to Steve Aoki, Reinier Zonneveld, and Darla Jade with On My Own, Max White with Lock In, MARAH with the LULA EP, and AHEE with Bassquest Vol 2 EP, these are the tracks you should not miss on this week’s New EDM Friday.
Martin Garrix & U2 – Fireflies
Martin Garrix and U2 release Fireflies, marking their first official collaboration together through STMPD RCRDS and Darkroom Records. The track premiered during Martin Garrix’s headline set at Tomorrowland last week, where The Edge made a surprise appearance to perform it live for the first time. Fireflies brings Bono’s vocals together with U2 and Martin Garrix’s electronic sound, continuing the creative connection between both acts after Martin Garrix produced U2’s Scars from their latest EP Easter Lily. Following Bizarre with Madonna and the long-awaited Repeat It with Ed Sheeran, Fireflies opens New EDM Friday July 24 with another major crossover release from Martin Garrix.
Steve Aoki, Reinier Zonneveld, Darla Jade – On My Own
Steve Aoki, Reinier Zonneveld, and Darla Jade release On My Own, a new collaboration that had its live debut at Tomorrowland before its official release on July 24. The track brings Steve Aoki together with Reinier Zonneveld’s techno background and Darla Jade’s vocal, giving the release a connection between mainstage dance, live performance, and a more melodic topline. Steve Aoki and Reinier Zonneveld performed the track together at Tomorrowland, using the festival as the first major preview for the collaboration before moving it from the stage to streaming platforms. With On My Own already tied to a major Tomorrowland moment, the release adds one of this week’s biggest cross-genre collaborations to New EDM Friday July 24.
MARAH – LULA EP
MARAH releases LULA, her second EP and first full project on Deadbeats, following her debut Deadrocks performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The four-track project brings together dubstep, trap, techno, and UK club influences, with Talk To Me, LOUDER with Ugly Lungs, TAKE IT featuring Crucial, and the title track LULA featuring Jessy Covets. MARAH described the EP as an honest reflection of who she is creatively, with the title track representing fearlessness, confidence, and pushing through obstacles. After touring with Hamdi, playing Shambhala, Lightning in a Bottle, Bass Coast, Fvded in the Park, and earning support from Zeds Dead, EPROM, Sicaria, Hamdi, and Notion, LULA adds a strong bass music project to New EDM Friday July 24.
AHEE – Bass Quest Vol. II EP
AHEE releases Bass Quest Vol. II, a seven-track collaborative EP on his Zot Records imprint. The project follows the previously released singles FIYAH with SubDocta and D4NCE with WonkyWilla, while also bringing in Stylust, SoDown, Manic Focus, Colby Buckler, Dirtwire, and Honeycomb across the full tracklist. The EP moves through different sides of AHEE’s bass music world, from the heavier opening of FIYAH to the wonky rhythms of D4NCE, the soulful feel of Connection, and the more cinematic closing track Alien Dirt. Following a 25-date headline tour, direct support for Liquid Stranger at Red Rocks, a B2B with Liquid Stranger at EDC Las Vegas, and upcoming dates at Shambhala, Hulaween, Freaky Deaky, and Mission Ballroom, Bass Quest Vol. II brings another collaborative bass project into New EDM Friday July 24.
Buunshin – Luminous Body
Buunshin releases Luminous Body, a new single inspired by the Persian philosophy of Illuminationism. The track explores the moment where self-awareness takes over the physical body, turning movement into instinct and placing the record in a space between cinematic electronica, techno, trance, and experimental bass. Luminous Body follows Buunshin’s collaborative album The Quiet That Hurts with What So Not, continuing the world he has been developing through emotionally detailed and technically precise bass music. With support from Skrillex, Flume, Porter Robinson, Chris Lake, and Noisia, plus past collaborations with IMANU, San Holo, Apashe, Habstrakt, and What So Not, Luminous Body adds one of the week’s most experimental entries to New EDM Friday July 24.

Martin Garrix And U2 Reunite For ‘Fireflies’ set to release on July 24 following Tomorrowland premiere and years of collaboration with Bono
Martin Garrix and U2 are set to release their new single Fireflies on July 24, following its premiere during Martin Garrix’s Tomorrowland 2026 set. The track marks their first major release together since We Are The People in 2021, while continuing a creative relationship that has developed through several projects over the past five years. During that time, Bono also played an important role in encouraging Martin Garrix to start singing on his own music, helping him with vocal technique, breathing and lyrics after years of pushing him to use his own voice. That eventually led to Martin Garrix singing on releases including Angels For Each Other and Catharina, making his contribution to Fireflies particularly relevant to the history between them. With Bono and The Edge involved once again, Fireflies brings their long-running creative relationship with Martin Garrix back into focus while adding another major collaboration to a partnership that has continued to develop since We Are The People.

‘Fireflies’ Debuts At Tomorrowland With The Edge Joining Martin Garrix On Stage
Martin Garrix chose the closing part of his Tomorrowland 2026 set to premiere Fireflies, bringing The Edge on stage as the collaboration was heard in full for the first time. The moment brought together both sides of the partnership: Bono’s vocals carry the song, The Edge’s guitar plays a major role in the track, and Martin Garrix brings those elements into the melodic electronic sound that has long been central to his music. Giving Fireflies the final moments of one of his biggest festival sets also separated it from the unreleased IDs heard earlier in the performance, turning the premiere into a proper introduction to the next chapter of his work with U2.

The collaboration itself goes further than placing U2 vocals over a Martin Garrix production. Bono’s vocal performance and The Edge’s guitar are central to the track, while Martin Garrix’s production brings those elements into a melodic electronic record that still feels closely tied to his own sound. Premiering Fireflies with The Edge physically on stage also gave the first performance a stronger connection to U2 as a band, not just to Bono as the vocalist heard on the record. It made the Tomorrowland debut feel like a proper joint presentation of the song before its official release, while leaving the longer history between Martin Garrix and U2 to explain why this collaboration carries more weight than a one-off crossover.
Bono’s Influence On Martin Garrix’s Development As A Vocalist
Martin Garrix’s relationship with Bono and The Edge first became a major public collaboration with We Are The People, released in 2021 as the official song for UEFA EURO 2020. That project brought Martin Garrix together with both members of U2, but the relationship continued after the release, particularly through his work with Bono. In the years that followed, Bono became one of the people who repeatedly encouraged Martin Garrix to sing on his own records. Speaking about that decision in 2025, Martin Garrix said Bono had been pushing him to use his own voice for three or four years and had also helped him with singing technique, breathing and lyrics. That support came during a period when Martin Garrix was still best known for producing records around other vocalists, despite having written and worked closely on the songs himself.

That changed with Angels For Each Other, his 2025 collaboration with Arijit Singh, where Martin Garrix sang on a released track himself. He continued singing on Catharina in 2026, taking on the lead vocal while Bono was also credited as one of the songwriters. By the time Fireflies was completed, Martin Garrix had already begun establishing singing as a genuine part of his own music, making Bono’s earlier encouragement especially relevant to the wider history between them. The person who had spent years pushing Martin Garrix to trust his own voice is now collaborating with him again on a record that continues a creative relationship extending far beyond We Are The People.
With Fireflies, Martin Garrix’s work with Bono and The Edge continues to expand beyond their original collaboration on We Are The People, while his own recent releases show that singing has become a more serious part of his music separately. Whether those two paths cross more directly in the future remains to be seen, but both have become increasingly important parts of where Martin Garrix is heading next.
