gardenstate Release Highly-Anticipated Debut Album ‘Inspirations’ On Anjunabeats!

Be it through passion, determination, or just sheer stubbornness, gardenstate continues to bloom. A transatlantic labour of love from superproducer Marcus Schössow and club promoter Matt Felner, their debut album ‘Inspirations’ is out now on Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats imprint. At the heart of Sweden’s decade-long domination of club music in the 2010s, Marcus’ fifteen-year-long career boasts a smorgasbord of styles. You’ve got electro with ‘Swedish Beatballs’, the mainstage energy of ‘Reverie’ and ‘Ulysses’, and the driving progressive of ‘London / 1985’. Few artists have record sleeves from Axtone, Armada, Size, Spinnin’ and Anjunadeep in their catalogue. Heavily invested in the early 2010’s big room sound, he was a permanent feature in the sets of Swedish House Mafia and Knife Party. New Jersey native Matt Felner gave up his blue-collar job to follow his passion for electronic music. A respected promoter and performer, he’s brought emerging artists to the clubs of New York and the East Coast. In 2008, he toured Marcus Schössow and they became close friends. Eleven years later, and here we are – a hotly tipped duo with a debut artist album on Anjunabeats.

Making music on their own terms, the gardenstate sound is a melting pot of ‘90s trance nostalgia, brooding melodic techno, peak-time breaks and poignant songwriting. Few acts can worm their way into the DJ sets of Kölsch, Cristoph, Tiestö, and Above & Beyond at the same time. Releases on Joris Voorn’s Spectrum Records and Yotto’s Odd One Out have nurtured an underground following, while reworks of A&B and Gabriel & Dresden have introduced them to the trance and progressive crowd.

Opening track ‘Aurora’, co-produced with Paavo from Above & Beyond and featuring vocals from Nandini Srikar, is a love letter to the life-affirming experience Marcus had playing in India. Paavo’s studio was also the birthplace for ‘Revival’, a collaboration with Gabriel & Dresden, Andy Moor, and PROFF, while long-time friends SØNIN and BLR join Marcus and Matt for ‘Koski’. ‘Répondez-moi’, a dance floor reworking of Switzerland’s 2020 Eurovision entry, partners Marcus and Matt with Gjon’s Tears, who finished third in this year’s competition. There’s a heavy breaks influence across the album, including ‘1995’, and BBC Radio 1-endorsed ‘Take Me There’ with GVN, Anjunabeats’ 700th catalogue release.

gardenstate’s debut album ‘Inspirations’ is available now. In addition to their recent Group Therapy 450 live show from the Drumsheds, the boys join Above & Beyond for two sold out Red Rocks shows 21st/22nd October and have also just announced the official ‘Inspirations’ tour dates, as the gardenstate message continues to permeate across the world.

New EDM Friday August 14 brings new music from Skrillex, Anyma, Armin van Buuren, What So Not, Tape B, and more.

New EDM Friday August 14 brings together new singles, collaborations, EP releases, and crossover records covering bass music, melodic techno, trance, trap, house, and dance. From MPH and Skrillex with Mirage to Anyma and Volkoder with Other Dimension, Armin van Buuren and DIØN with Burn It Up, What So Not with I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY, and Tape B with Zaytoven on Signature Sound, these are the tracks you should not miss on this week’s New EDM Friday.

MPH & Skrillex – Mirage

After being teased by MPH at EDC Las Vegas in May, Mirage now gets its official release with Skrillex through DisOrder and Capitol Records. The track brings together MPH’s place in the new wave of UK Garage with Skrillex’s long history of pushing electronic music into different directions, while also sampling Red Rat’s early 2000s Jamaican dancefloor classic ShellyAnn. The collaboration was made in one afternoon, with MPH explaining that he and Skrillex passed the laptop back and forth until their sounds came together. After a summer that included Parklife, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands, plus upcoming dates at CRSSD Festival, EDC Orlando, Seismic Dance Event, and headline shows across Europe and North America, MPH comes into Mirage at one of the biggest points in his career so far. With its UK Garage base, Jamaican sample, and long-awaited Skrillex connection, Mirage opens New EDM Friday August 14 with one of the week’s biggest releases.

Anyma & Volkoder – Other Dimension

Other Dimension brings Anyma and Volkoder together during the next phase of Anyma’s visual and melodic techno world. The track had already been circulating online as an unreleased ID before appearing on release lists, with earlier setlist references also pointing to the collaboration under the title Another Dimension. For Anyma, it continues the move from Genesys into the new ÆDEN chapter, which has become the focus of his 2026 shows. Volkoder adds a Brazilian producer presence to the release, with a background connected to house, techno, and club records. With the track now tied to Anyma’s current visual world and Volkoder stepping into that space, Other Dimension gives New EDM Friday August 14 a melodic techno entry alongside the heavier and bass-focused records on the list.

Armin van Buuren & DIØN ft. Scrufizzer – Burn It Up

After first being premiered during Armin van Buuren’s Amsterdam Dance Event 2025 show, Burn It Up now gets its full release with DIØN and Scrufizzer through Armada Music. The track later appeared in Armin van Buuren’s Tomorrowland 2026 set, giving it a clear live history before release day. Burn It Up connects DIØN’s harder production style with Armin van Buuren’s long-running place in electronic music, while Scrufizzer adds a grime vocal that gives the record a sharper edge. The single also includes an extended mix, which fits the way the track had already been moving through live sets. With DIØN coming off releases such as Come Alive, Taka Tribe, and Pulsation, Burn It Up brings a harder techno and hard dance entry into New EDM Friday August 14.

What So Not – I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY

What So Not’s new EP I SAW A TRAP DJ AND IT CHANGED MY BIO CHEMISTRY looks back at the early trap, beats, and future bass culture that helped shape his sound, while placing those ideas in his current creative world. The project follows the singles EVEREST with Alina Pash, MONA LISA with Mr. Carmack and Benni Ola, and Candy Flipping with Jack Blom, NERVE, and Alina Pash. Across six tracks, the EP brings in Alina Pash, Mr. Carmack, Jack Blom, Elohim, Christian Patey, Losco, Michael Christmas, and Caliph, moving between cinematic songwriting, bass experimentation, and the kind of collaborative energy tied to that earlier internet-era electronic scene. The project also connects to What So Not’s North American tour under the same title, a smaller-room run focused on community and direct connection with his audience. With the EP revisiting the sound that first changed his path without simply repeating the past, What So Not adds one of the week’s main bass projects to New EDM Friday August 14.

4B – SWITCH

4B returns to Deadbeats with SWITCH, following his June label debut WHAT IS THIS. The single moves further into dubstep while keeping the Jersey Club influence that has been central to 4B’s sound, pairing heavy basslines, hypnotic vocals, and harder drops with the high-energy approach he has carried across his career. The release comes during a busy year for 4B, including headline performances in Los Angeles and Bangkok, along with his residency at Hakkasan Nightclub Las Vegas. His wider catalogue includes the breakout single Pop Dat, the 2018 release Whistle, and remixes of Fetty Wap’s My Way, DJ Snake’s Middle, and J Balvin’s Mi Gente. With support from Tiësto, Skrillex, Diplo, Steve Aoki, RL Grime, and I Hate Models, SWITCH brings 4B’s Jersey Club and bass music sound into New EDM Friday August 14.

Tape B ft. Zaytoven – Signature Sound

Tape B links with Zaytoven on Signature Sound, a collaboration that brings his nostalgic dubstep influence together with one of Atlanta hip-hop’s most recognizable producers. The track was inspired by the famous UKF dubstep tutorial and the 2010–2012 era of dubstep, with Tape B using Zaytoven speaking about the “wub” sound as part of the idea behind the record. Zaytoven’s production history includes work with Gucci Mane, Future, Migos, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage, making the collaboration a natural extension of Tape B’s long-running connection to hip-hop through edits, flips, and his 2024 Juicy J collaboration Trippy Land. The single has also been part of Tape B’s live sets since his fall 2025 bus tour, where it was used as an intro before becoming a regular favorite in his shows. With Tape B continuing a major run that includes sold-out Summer Program dates with Levity and a nearly sold-out two-night Red Rocks headline later this year, Signature Sound adds a bass and hip-hop crossover to New EDM Friday August 14.

Wax Motif & Spin Off – Naked Girls

Wax Motif and Spin Off team up on Naked Girls, a new bass house single released through Divided Souls. The track follows Wax Motif’s recent House of Wax II album and keeps the focus on the heavier side of his sound, using blaring sirens, hard-hitting basslines, and a playful hook. Spin Off brings his unconventional house approach into the collaboration, with his sound taking influence from the Blog House era. The release also comes ahead of Wax Motif’s upcoming Grand Park headline show in Los Angeles, which is set to be his biggest production so far and will include new visuals, outdoor production, and unreleased music. With Wax Motif continuing to connect house, hip-hop, R&B, and bass house through his own releases and Divided Souls, Naked Girls gives New EDM Friday August 14 another house entry with a rowdier edge.

Hardwell & W&W – Turn Up The Bass

Hardwell and W&W reunite for Turn Up The Bass, bringing together two of the most recognisable names in big room and electro house. The collaboration lands as both acts continue strong runs of live appearances across the summer festival circuit, and the track does exactly what the title suggests, delivering the high-energy floor-focused sound that defined the peak era both artists helped build. Turn Up The Bass opens New EDM Friday August 7 with one of the week’s most direct dancefloor statements.

MEDUZA & Kevin de Vries – 7 Days

MEDUZA and Kevin de Vries join forces for 7 Days, pairing one of melodic house’s most consistent production outfits with one of the genre’s most in-demand selectors and artists. Kevin de Vries has spent the past few years building a reputation across the bigger stages of the melodic and progressive world, while MEDUZA continue to operate across club and festival settings with equal footing. 7 Days brings both together for one of this week’s most polished house releases on New EDM Friday August 7.

Eli Brown – It’s Like That

Eli Brown returns with It’s Like That, the second single from his debut album Panic Attack, due August 7 via Insomniac Records. Built around a defiant vocal refrain, rumbling basslines, acid-fuelled synths, and rave sirens, the track captures the escapism and collective energy of rave culture with a gritty edge rooted in his Bristol upbringing. It follows Electrify and pushes further into the raw, uncompromising sound that runs through Panic Attack. Brown has performed at EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland, Ultra, Coachella, Awakenings, and Creamfields, and heads into the rest of 2026 with his largest headline show to date in Los Angeles on November 14. It’s Like That is one of this week’s strongest techno entries on New EDM Friday August 7.

Max Styler – I Don’t Think I Can Stop (EP)

Max Styler releases his six-track EP I Don’t Think I Can Stop through his own imprint Nu Moda, arriving on the heels of his Lollapalooza performance. Built to replicate the arc of his open-to-close live sets, the project moves between blaring sub-bass, handcrafted beats, and hooky guest vocals across tracks including the bass-heavy Uh-Oh!, the crowd-facing Body Shake, and the kaleidoscopic Templo Disko. Styler describes the EP as reflecting the pacing and sonic identity of his live sets, a departure from the more immediate impact of his singles. The release also comes alongside the official video for disco-tinged track Love Forever featuring Kuuda, and coincides with his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix hosted by Pete Tong. I Don’t Think I Can Stop adds one of this week’s most complete EP releases to New EDM Friday August 7.#

Skilah – Dance MF

Skilah releases Dance MF via Breakaway, continuing a breakthrough year for the 23-year-old DJ and producer. Known for her dark, bass-heavy sound and use of her own vocals, she has built a distinct identity in the electronic space alongside a rapidly growing audience of over 3 million followers across TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. Her live footprint has expanded steadily through appearances at Coachella, Breakaway Music Festival, Foam Wonderland, Ubbi Dubbi, and additional dates across the US and Canada. Dance MF pushes her sound further forward as one of the more exciting emerging voices in New EDM Friday August 7.

Jazzy – My People

Jazzy follows her bass house collaboration Invisible with Chris Lorenzo with My People, released via Chaos Records. Written alongside Mark Ralph, Theo Hutchcraft, and Guillaume Alric of The Blaze, the track is a personal tribute to her hometown of Dublin, weaving euphoric house energy with late-night pop and direct storytelling. It arrives ahead of her debut album Peace and Patience, due October 23, and a headline tour that culminates at Dublin’s 3Arena with a capacity of 13,000. This summer she also joins Calvin Harris as main support across a run of stadium shows in Glasgow, Dublin, Belfast, and Ibiza. My People closes New EDM Friday August 7 with one of the week’s most personal and well-positioned releases.

Dennis Ferrer headlines ¿PorQuéNo? Toronto, a two-stage daytime festival at Evergreen Brick Works on August 29, 2026, bringing Tulum’s beach party energy north.

¿PorQuéNo? is bringing its signature Tulum Day Festival concept to Toronto this summer, in partnership with Puzzles Presents with house music veteran Dennis Ferrer topping the bill at Evergreen Brick Works on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Doors open at 4 PM for the 19+ event, which runs seven hours across two stages and is expected to draw over 2,000 attendees for a full day-into-evening celebration of house music in the city’s historic industrial park setting.

The Dennis Ferrer ¿PorQuéNo? Toronto booking brings one of soulful house’s most respected names to the daytime festival stage. The New York-based DJ and producer built his reputation through soulful, gospel, and Afro-house influenced production, co-founding Sfere Recordings with Kerri Chandler before launching his own label, Objektivity. He remains best known for his 2010 Defected Records single “Hey Hey,” a record that helped define the sound of soulful house for a new generation of dancefloors, and his catalog includes long-running collaborations with Masters at Work and Little Louie Vega.
