British DJ & producer John Newman enters a new era with the launch of his latest musical project, SIX40TWO.

After becoming an international hit-maker, producing records like ‘Love Me Again’ and collaborating with giants such as Calvin Harris and David Guetta, Newman is stepping into an even more mature artistic side.

His latest record, ‘Something In The Water,’ has released under the SIX40TWO alias on 24 October. The release marks the beginning of this new chapter.

Looking ahead, Newman says: “I’m really excited, and hopefully, everyone else can see I’m starting a new project … it’s me just in my truest form for a bit and just enjoying it.”

During an interview with Ralph Moore, the DJ opened up about what ‘truest form’ represents. He discussed how his roots influence his sound.

He explained that growing up in the North Yorkshire Dales, his mother had an affinity for soul music and introduced him to artists like Diana Ross.

Since then, soul has remained an important part in Newman’s life. It is a genre that moves him through difficult times and ignites the ideas behind his greatest creations.

“To give this first record to people is really exciting. It’s a mix of soul music and dance and, it’s just passion,” mentions John Newman regarding ‘Something In The Water’.

A New Label On The Market

Along with the launch of SIX40TWO, the artist has also announced his own label.

Named ‘Numana Music,’ this will likely be the home of future John Newman productions.

‘Something In The Water’ is the label’s debuting release, and showcases a glimpse at the sound that SIX40TWO is set to bring to the stage.
