Marshmello, real name Chris Comstock, has ventured into new territory with his punk band, Underbrook.

This project marks an unapologetic exploration of his true inner punk self. They are blending alt-rock with a 2010s pop-punk vibe inspired by bands like Two Door Cinema Club and New Found Glory.

Comstock explained, “This isn’t a nostalgia play, this is who I’ve always been at my core.” For many fans this may come as a surprise, considering his electronic music fame but his punk roots have always been there.

Before Marshmello, he also went under the alias DotCom, producing bass-heavy tracks and trap-inspired EPs that predated dubstep’s mainstream success. Now, with Underbrook, he is channeling his musical evolution into an energetic new direction.

The band’s debut single ‘Heads Up‘ was released on June 20, 2025. It gives fans a tasteful listen of what’s to come: a blend of nostalgic pop-punk and modern influences. “We’re blending old-school punk with modern influences,” Comstock shared. Underbrook is also comprised of 5 other talented members including guitarists Danny Coutoure, Hayden Tree, Jake Torrey, Josh Strock, and drummer James Brownstein.

While Underbrook marks a new chapter, Comstock assures fans that Marshmello isn’t going anywhere. With both projects running in parallel, Comstock continues to push the boundaries of his creativity. Make sure to listen to the debut single below.
