Meet Denver-Based DJ Lane 8 Who’s Set To Pack Civic Center Park!

Lane 8 (born Daniel Goldstein) has called Denver his home for the past five years. During that time, he’s become a leading light in both the local music scene and the global electronic dance music community. On September 9, Lane 8 will perform a two hour set at Civic Center Park with his This Never Happened Summer Gathering 2023 featuring Sultan + Shepard, EMBRZ, Massane, Ocula, and Ashibah.

On track to be the biggest show ever at the downtown space, Lane 8 has already graced myriad Colorado stages, including the Bluebird Theater, Ogden Theater, Mission Ballroom, Red Rocks Amphitheater and Globe Hall.

As the world was shutting down in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, he headed to Grand Lake, where he did a livestream in the middle of an actual lake. The YouTube video was streamed more than 11 million times and put a giant spotlight on Grand Lake (something the town greatly appreciated).

In 2019—two years after founding the This Never Happened Summer Gatherings (named after his label This Never Happened or TNH)—Lane 8 brought the event to Echo Mountain Ski Area, becoming the first artist to perform there.

“I have so many great memories of the experiences we shared at the Summer Gatherings in 2017 and 2019,” he says. “The beautiful outdoor locations, the sense of freedom and connection that we all tapped into – they felt like the perfect companion events to our typical indoor TNH shows. We were supposed to do more summer gatherings in 2021, but we all know how that went. So it feels doubly exciting for me that we can make these shows happen this year.”

As with every This Never Happened event, photos and filming are not permitted as fans are asked to experience the moment rather than record it, instead focusing on connecting with the music and each other. If you aren’t in attendance, This Never Happened

Lane 8 continues to bring that communal spirit to every event he brings to the Rocky Mountain region. Tickets to the Civic Center Park event are available here. One dollar per ticket will go to supporting organizations working for equity, access and dignity for all. As always, the dancefloor will be a phone and photo-free space. An after party for those 16 and over will follow at Ogden Theater beginning at 10 p.m. MT. Find additional details here.
