Roger Sanchez Enlists Oliver Heldens For 20th Anniversary Remix Of ‘Another Chance’!
One of the world’s most treasured and prolific names in House music DJ Roger Sanchez enlists Dutch trailblazer Oliver Heldens to remix his iconic #1 single ‘Another Chance’. Out via Ministry of Sound, this 2021 refresh sees Oliver put his deep new-gen twist on the original and has been taking dancefloors by storm this summer from Lollapalooza to Creamfields UK.
Speaking on the collaboration, Roger says: “I’m excited at the approach Oliver has taken to ‘Another Chance’ – he has kept the spirit of the original, but added his vibe to it and the result is epic! It’s been great collaborating on this version with him, and I’m looking forward to seeing the reactions on the dance floor!”
Oliver adds: “Roger’s ‘Another Chance’ is one of my all time favorite House/Dance music records, so it’s such a big honor for me to do this remix for the 20 year anniversary of this iconic song! While trying to stay true to the original, I went with a more modern Progressive House approach and the result is pretty epic, but still timeless I think. I’m super happy with the great response on it so far from my recent shows in the US and at Creamfields in the UK, and judging by all the DJs that have already hit me up about this remix, we might hear it on many different dance floors in the near future. Hope you like it too! :)”
The fun doesn’t stop there though, Roger Sanchez continues to celebrate 20 years of his iconic #1 single ‘Another Chance’ with a mini-documentary exploring the history of the record “20 Years Of Another Chance: How Roger Sanchez Made A Dance Classic”. Featuring interviews with the man himself – Roger Sanchez, director Phillipe Andre and more, this fascinating visual story follows his recent DJ Mag North America Cover story and slew of glowing support across fans and media alike.
Speaking on the celebrations and mini-doc, Ministry of Sound say: “We are thrilled to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Roger Sanchez’s classic record, Another Chance, with this documentary. We wanted to give a behind-the-scenes journey of how such an iconic song and visual came together, told through the inimitable voices of video director Philippe Andre and Roger himself. It felt like the perfect time to tell the story before the release of the upcoming epic official remix by Oliver Heldens”
Sony adds: “‘Another Chance’ is an undoubted dance classic with a video to match. It’s been a great creative challenge to go deep into the track’s backstory to make this documentary. Like all great songs, ‘Another Chance’ came out of a combination of inspiration and perspiration, and we had to draw on 4th Floor Creative’s different skillsets across storytelling, video production, sound design and visual creative to do it justice.”
Kicking off celebrations and partnering again with Sony earlier this Summer, Roger shared an HD Remastered version of the original Philippe Andre directed video alongside news of a limited 7” picture disc of the original track. From humble beginnings in New York City, digging in dusty crates of old vinyl and spinning at house parties in Corona, Queens, to dominating the dance floors and headlining festival main-stages in every corner of the globe, 2021 marks the perfect moment to both reflect on an enviable career as well as look forward with anticipation to what the future holds for this multi-talented stalwart of the scene.
Speaking on the anniversary, Roger says: “It’s incredible to think that Another Chance turns 20 this year – where has the time gone?! That song marked a major transition in my life and a broadening of my connection to the world through my music so it’s great to come full circle and once again work with Sony – the company that helped present it to the world. This track continues to resonate with audiences on the dance floor and I’m blessed to not only have it as one of my creations, but to know that it still makes people dance and feel connected to this day.”
