Should Avicii’s Music Stop Being Released?
The recent release of the 2016 Ibiza version of Avicii’s ‘Forever Yours’ has sparked some controversy in the music world. While some fans were elated to have this version out, Sandro Cavazza who provided vocals for the track took to social media saying that he didn’t approve the songs release. Avicii was always very particular about his music leaving many songs on the cutting room floor which begs the question of should these tracks be seeing the light of day?
‘Forever Yours’ started out life as demo from Sandro Cavazza that just had guitar and vocals which he showed to Avicii a week before Ultra Music Festival in 2016. The pair of them worked together on it quickly developing the first version of the track that would be heard at Ultra which wowed the crowd. ‘Forever Yours’ would see several different iterations but was unfortunately never finished due to the passing of Avicii.
To help him get through this hard time and to try do some good in the wake of Tim’s death, Cavazza decided to complete the song as a tribute to Avicii with all the proceeds from it going to the Tim Bergling Foundation. Kygo had reached out to Cavazza following Tim’s passing to give his condolences and stayed in contact with him. Kygo had always been a huge admirer of Avicii so when Cavazza decided to finish the track he brought him in to help complete Avicii’s vision as faithfully as possible.
Sandro and Tim had a lot of unreleased and unfinished tracks together before Tim died and ‘Forever Yours’ is the only one of them to come out with the tribute version and the 2016 Ibiza version. Following the release of the Ibiza version Sandro took to social media to say “I have for years now been asked by the family and pinguettes recordings to release the unreleased material I have done together with Tim and I have consistently said no. A lot of you probably wonder why those songs never have come out and the truth is that I don’t want to release any of those songs Without Tim being here. He is the only one who knew when his songs were finished and I do and will continue to respect that.”
While it’s nice to hear more of Avicii’s music, those unreleased songs are ones that are not finished and therefore wouldn’t be released till Avicii had worked on them meticulously to fruition. The Ibiza version that has been released was wildly different to the version played at Ultra as the end vision for the song was yet undecided and therefore the song was unfinished. To release an unfinished song goes against Avicii’s way of working and ignoring the wishes of Sandro Cavazza who played an equal part in its creation seems wrong.
Despite this Avicii’s parents approved the release of ‘Forever Yours’, though that won’t have been with any ill intent and rather them wanting the memory of their son to live on through his music. There’s still countless unreleased Avicii tracks that could still come out, but the question remains as to whether they should without Tim being here to complete them in the way he would have wanted to. The most important thing is that his memory is honoured, and his legacy is looked after.

Avicii Former Manager Ash Pournouri Sues Family Over Portrayal in True Stories Documentary
Avicii’s former manager Arash “Ash” Pournouri has initiated legal proceedings in Sweden against Avicii AB and several related companies controlled by the artist’s family. The case centers on how Pournouri believes he has been portrayed in the public narrative surrounding Avicii’s life, career, and death.
Pournouri argues that the documentary ‘Avicii: True Stories’ and two books have wrongly presented him as responsible for Bergling’s breakdown and suicide, including claims that he forced the artist to continue touring against his will. He maintains that these portrayals relate to a period after his professional relationship with Avicii had already ended in 2016, two years before Bergling’s death.
According to statements shared by Pournouri, the lawsuit is not about financial compensation but about correcting what he describes as an inaccurate and incomplete public record. He says he has spent years attempting to address these issues privately, out of respect for Bergling and his family, but now sees court proceedings as the only way to establish verified facts through documents, sworn testimony, and an official legal record.
Pournouri has emphasized that he does not ask the public to simply take his word for it. Instead, he says relevant documents, including emails, agreements, and dated records, will be made available so readers can judge the facts for themselves. He has also stated clear boundaries, saying he will not speculate, disclose private medical information, blame fans, or use the situation for personal profit.
The Bergling family has been contacted but has not commented on the lawsuit. As the case moves forward, it is likely to draw renewed attention to how Avicii’s legacy has been framed, and to broader questions around responsibility, transparency, and stewardship of an artist’s public narrative.

Avicii Teases Stories on Stories- Mini-Series Dropping November 6
Avicii’s world is about to open up once again, the late producer’s team has teased Stories on Stories, a new mini-series arriving November 6.
Avicii fans just got hit with something unexpected and honestly, a little emotional. Avicii’s official Instagram account posted a short story of his voice, explaining he had “every session filmed” for his 2015 album, Stories. The next slide? A black screen with the words: “Stories on Stories. A mini Youtube series. November 6.”
If you’ve known and loved Avicii for a while, you know how special Stories is in Avicii’s discography. Released in 2015, it was his second studio album, and the last one he completed during his lifetime. It showed a different side of him, showcasing his talent as a music producer beyond just EDM.
We’ve always known Avicii poured everything into Stories, but now hearing that “every session was filmed” makes this feel huge. There’s a chance we’ll finally get to see the creative process of those songs- not just the music, but the mindset.
It’s been years since Avicii’s passing, but his music still hits us all deeply. We’ve had documentaries like Avicii: True Stories and I’m Tim that dove into his journey and struggles, but this feels different. For longtime fans, this could be a beautiful look back. For newer ones, it’s a chance to experience the Stories era with new eyes and find out what made it such a defining project.
We don’t know much yet, but November 6 is officially circled on the calendar. Until then, keep an eye on Avicii’s official accounts. If the teaser is any indication, there’s a lot more to Stories than we’ve ever seen before.

Avicii Stories 10th Anniversary: How the Album Redefined EDM
Avicii’s ‘Stories’ turns 10 in 2025, a genre-blending album that reshaped EDM with influences from pop, rock, and country.
October 2, 2015. That’s when Avicii dropped Stories — an album that didn’t just evolve his sound, it expanded what EDM could be. As we approach the Avicii Stories 10th anniversary, it’s time to reflect on its lasting impact.
Instead of doubling down on the festival-ready style of True, he went rogue. Stories pulled from pop, rock, reggae, even country, and still carried that unmistakable Avicii melodic punch. The features alone showed how far he was pushing: Chris Martin (Coldplay), Wyclef Jean, Zac Brown (Zac Brown Band), and Sandro Cavazza, who would later become a longtime collaborator. Martin Garrix also had a hand in co-writing, including on “Waiting for Love.”
The industry wasn’t sure what to make of it at the time — too polished for purists, too experimental for mainstream radio. But that tension was the point. Stories showed EDM didn’t have to live inside the big-room formula. It could stretch, blend, and tell stories without losing its connection to the dancefloor.
Ten years later, it’s clear the album helped lay the groundwork for the genre-blending sound dominating electronic music today. Avicii didn’t just change direction with Stories — he changed the rules for everyone.
