Avicii – The Days / Nights EP
Released together as an EP on the 1st of December, Swedish legend Avicii gave two early Christmas presents to his fans with these two magical pieces of music. Opening up the EP was ‘The Days’, a single which featured Robbie Williams on vocals. A more pop-centered single much like what he had done previously, the signature Avicii sound can be heard all throughout it. Then up next we’ve got the more iconic of the two, ‘The Nights’. With emotional lyrics that still ring true to this day, this one gave us that full Avicii sound and more, leading it to be one of the Swedes’ most popular songs.
Kygo – Firestone
Released on the 1st of December, 2014, Kygo‘s ‘Firestone’ featuring Conrad Sewell reached the number 1 spot on numerous charts across the globe including his own nation of Norway. A massive international hit, this single followed on from some remixes and was the first original track to receive tons of plaudits around the world, with his signature tropical house style on full show.
DJ Snake & AlunaGeorge – You Know You Like It
Having dominated the world with his single ‘Turn Down For What’ in 2013, DJ Snake made 2014 another year to remember as he released ‘You Know You Like It’ featuring AlunaGeorge on the 8th of December. Letting AlunaGeorge‘s vocals do the talking for some sections, this one comes to life as DJ Snake gives us power in its finest form with a pulsating trap drop that destroyed festivals and clubs on every part of the world.
R3HAB & KSHMR – Karate
Before these two artists would complete a trifecta of killer releases with ‘Strong’ and ‘Islands’, KSHMR and R3HAB combined for the first time on the 15th of December, 2014, for the amazing single ‘Karate’. A peak time anthem that encapsulated elements of both artists’ styles and seamlessly combined them for a top-notch production, ‘Karate’ gained over 150 million streams online since its release on the 15th of December, 2014. On top of that, ‘Karate’ became a mainstay in both artists’ sets, being played on the mainstage of both Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival.
