5 Tracks You Won’t Believe Were Released 8 Years Ago!

Martin Garrix & Jay Hardway – Wizard
After smashing every chart imaginable with his game-changing EDM anthem ‘Animals’, the then-Dutch prodigy Martin Garrix enlisted Jay Hardway to assist him in the creation of the official follow-up ‘Wizard’. Released on the 2nd of December, 2013, this track was immediately sought after by every Top DJ in the world, the magical ‘Wizard’ was bound to become an even bigger hit than its predecessor and it came incredibly close, gaining over 250 million streams since its release – quickly becoming of the most streamed tracks on both artists’ discography.

Tiesto – Red Lights
Released as the lead single from Tiesto‘s fifth studio album ‘A Town Called Paradise’‘Red Lights’  dropped on the 13th of December, 2013, and is an uplifting progressive/pop-dance hybrid that seen the Dutch icon change away from his heavy-hitting festival sound to a more radio-friendly style. The release became hugely popular with Tiesto playing it in his live sets all across the world and has since gained over 250 million streams, making it one of Tiesto‘s most successful singles in the past couple of years.

DJ Snake – Turn Down For What
Very few tracks can encapsulate a whole genre and movement quite like ‘Turn Down For What’. Released on the 18th of December, 2013, ‘Turn Down For What’ quickly turned into a viral hit, gaining over 1 billion views and becoming one of the most streamed tracks in the history of dance music. This success quickly catapulted the name of DJ Snake into that of a headliner and would be followed up with the likes of ‘Lean On’ and ‘Middle’.

Eat Sleep Rave Repeat (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike x Ummet Ozcan Remix)
A trio that would deliver a big room anthem in the form of ‘The Hum’ in 2015 had come together previously for the first time on the remix of ‘Eat Sleep Rave Repeat’. A viral hit on its own, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Ummet Ozcan dropped their own remix on the 23rd of December, 2013, and it really took the single to the next level. Destroying main stages all across the world, this remix showed the true potential of these three artists when they combine their sounds.

Oliver Heldens – Gecko
During the rise of EDM, Tiesto‘s Musical Freedom imprint was known for big room productions and huge dance floor fillers, but for this throwback track, they felt it was time for something a little different. ‘Gecko’ appeared as an ID track in Tiesto‘s sets during 2013 and speculation started on who could have produced it. It wasn’t long before Spinnin’ Records officially announced that Dutch young gun Oliver Heldens was responsible for this future house masterpiece. Released on the 30th of December, ‘Gecko’ is often regarded as Oliver Heldens‘ best production, gaining over 200 million streams since its release.
