Mike Williams Talks Being Back Performing, Releasing New Music, Upcoming Collabs & More!

From the very young age of 4 years old, Mike Willams first touched a piano and from there he knew his career and life would revolve around music. Now 20 years later, Mike Williams has become one of the brightest young talents in the whole of dance music, releasing music on the biggest labels such as Spinnin’ Records, Musical Freedom, and Universal Music along with mainstage performances at Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival. Just before he performed on the mainstage of SAGA Festival, we had the opportunity to chat a little with him.

Hey Mike, thanks for taking the time to speak with us. After a year of shows being canceled. How does it feel to be back?
“Amazing. Honestly, I mean more than a year, I think we did some shows last year, really happy with that but it feels really really good to be back, and it feels really good to see all the people in the crowd and to get that energy back once again.

So with the return of live shows. Have you been saving anything special for the return of crowds?
“Yeah, for sure, I mean the last, last one and a half year I’ve been, like, not releasing but making a lot of music. And I’m just ready to release it and testing it out one by one. And, see, see the reaction of the crowd. And it’s fun, there’s some, some fun collaboration come coming up and yeah”

Maybe would you be able to reveal any collaborations or they are under wraps for now?
“No, most of them I can’t reveal but there’s one together with W&W and it’s gonna come out very soon, so keep your eyes out for that one.”

You recently announced a big deal with Universal, did the pandemic put any plans with them on hold?
“No, I think with Universal we were able to show a bit more at a commercial side to go a bit more song like songwriting wrote more to that side. It’s been really nice. Although I think now it’s time to go more to club music again, festival music, as you can see people are waiting for it. So it’s an interesting way we did, we did it the last one and a half years. And the tracks, I’m going to release in the upcoming year are going to be different, more Mike Williams, more club, more festival I’m able to play in life and I’m super excited about it.”

In the past, you’ve worked with massive names like Tiesto and Hardwell. How was it to work, besides them while you were growing as an artist?
“Working with them was amazing, honestly they’re so talented, they know so much about music. And for me it’s just learning learning learning a lot because I’m still young, I’m still new in this industry and it gives me a good boost. Every time to improve my tracks, improve everything basically and also on stage, you know like with Tiesto and Hardwell, he’s not playing now, but all those guys are really inspiring me too, what to do on stage and what, what is good or what is bad.”

We really look forward to your set tonight, thanks for your time, Mike!
“Thank you very much!”
