A-Trak has just debuted his first official track of 2019. The track, a soulful house groove that appeals to beat diggers and beach party crews alike is the first of an abundance of new music coming from the DJ, label head and producer this year. ‘Work It Out’ follows a handful of VIP reworks in A-Trak’s Bootleg Series, an informal collection of free releases he’s made for his DJ sets. The latest, ‘Trizzy Says’, reworks Mos Def’s iconic ‘Umi Says’. Previous installments include ‘Voulez-Vous’, a flip of the legendary ABBA track, and ‘Not A Mystery’, a classic soulful house sample cut.
2018 saw a banner year for A-Trak including hosting his second annual Goldie Awards in New York. The DJ and Beat Battle competitions drew combatants, as young as 11, from Japan, New Zealand, Brazil, Portugal and Venezuela, as well as Mexico, Canada and the US. The year also saw A-Trak’s ninth annual Fool’s Gold Day Off in New York which saw performances from Sheck Wes, Show Me The Body, Junglepussy, Venus X, Chynna and more.
A-Trak, a.k.a. Alain Macklovitch, is the quintessential cultural connector. His 20-year musical path has seen him take turns as an internationally renowned turntablist, founder of the iconic label Fool’s Gold, Grammy-nominated producer, innovative remixer and much more.
