Born and raised in Berlin, Angelo Huth got in touch with music at a very young age. During his youth, he attended piano lessons and wrote his very first song at the age of 10. Influenced by first-hand experiences, he developed a love for electronic dance music and started to produce and play music himself as a DJ. It didn’t take long before Angelo started to play at iconic venues, with Bora Bora Ibiza being one of them. In early 2019, Angelo released his first album titled ‘Dream’, which is a collection of his first compositions, mainly within both the minimal and the deep house subgenres. His biggest success to date came at the end of 2019 when his remix for Felix Jaehn and Mesto‘s ‘Never Alone’ won the remix contest. It was released on Virgin Records and hit over 100,000+ streams in just a few hours.
After his remix ‘Never Alone’, emerging artist Angelo Huth has kicked off his catalog for 2020 with the release of ‘Number One (I Wanna Know)’. A future house track that innovatively combines a unique vocal sound with epic brass melodies and a fat, distorted bassline. The lyrics keep a long story short, “It is about asking yourself if you can make it, but in the end, you already know that even if chances are few, you won’t stop until you get what you want,” said Angelo. We had the pleasure of interviewing Angelo ahead of this release.
Speaking about ‘Number One (I Wanna Know)’, how happy are you with the end product?
“Very happy. It turned out the way I imagined it and thats always a nice thing, haha!”
You ended 2019 on a high by releasing an official remix of ‘Never Alone’ and gaining over 300,000 streams on Spotify alone. How did you enjoy remixing this single and how rewarding was it to get the recognition via streams etc?
“I felt there was potential for the song to be more groovy and dancefloor suited. And it worked out pretty well! People from all over the world sent me messages about how they love my remix and it was overwhelming.”
With 2019 over, you have now opened up 2020 with your first release of the year, how do you plan on following on from the success of 2019?
“Well of course I got something in mind. Let’s just say I have some more surprises up my sleeve ;)”
As an emerging artist on the scene, how important do you think it so to experiment with all different sounds and styles to find your own sound and production style?
“I think in order to find your own sound and be recognizable among other artists it is important that you come out of your comfort zone and try out things others usually don´t. Im always open minded towards new music styles and I think thats the way to go.”
If you only had 1 last collab remaining in your career, who would you like it to be with?
“Snoop Dogg – he´s smooth”
When it comes to stepping into the studio, where do you get your main inspirations from?
“I wouldnt say there is a main source, they are coming from all over the place including listening to a lot of music of course. But one particular thing I can think of in the current situation is that I like to have a peaceful walk in the park before I enter the studio. It always clears up my mind and makes new capacities for brainstormings.”
Keeping on the topic of production, what comes first in your process: the drop, the breakdown, the melody, or all of the above?
“Most often I start with melodies. Sometimes I have a particular idea in mind and sometimes I just play around on the piano. Then suddenly I have a drop or a breakdown or whatever.”
At the moment, what do you enjoy most about your artistic journey/career?
“Just making music and thinking about how my next tune will sound! But also to connect with other artists sharing the same ambition and being creative.”
Ending the interview, would you like to share some exclusive news with us? 😉
“I have another exciting collaboration coming up but I’m not dropping names now 😛 You’ll have to be patient and stay tuned!”
