Asia Music Event and Tomorrowland Academy launch global DJ contest with winner set to perform at Hong Kong conference closing party

This November, get ready to experience Asia Music Event (AME), a new international electronic music industry conference taking place at Soho House Hong Kong on November 26–27. Across the two days, AME will bring together artists, labels, festivals, platforms and industry leaders from Asia and international markets. Panels, keynotes, networking and showcases will explore the business and future of electronic music in the region. That focus on creating new industry connections will also extend to emerging DJs. AME has partnered with Tomorrowland Academy for a global contest that will give one winner the chance to perform at the event’s Official Closing Party on November 27.

How the DJ Contest Will Work

Emerging DJs worldwide can enter the competition through the Tomorrowland Academy community, with participants required to have an active Community Pass. Entrants will prepare a mixtape of at least 30 minutes, with all genres accepted, and upload it to SoundCloud before submitting the link through the official competition form. Entries will remain open until November 11, 2026 at 23:59 CET.

After reviewing the eligible submissions, Tomorrowland Academy will select a Top 3 shortlist. Asia Music Event will then choose the final winner from those three DJs. The winning artist will travel to Hong Kong and perform at the Asia Music Event Official Closing Party on November 27. They will share the lineup with international DJs and artists from AME’s upcoming lineup. The winner will also attend the wider conference and meet artists, labels, festivals, platforms and industry decision-makers from across Asia and other international markets.

Creating More Opportunities for Emerging Talent

Through the collaboration, Tomorrowland Academy continues its work supporting developing DJs and producers through education, industry guidance and practical opportunities. “At Tomorrowland Academy, we’re always looking for ways to give emerging DJs opportunities to develop their craft and take the next step in their journey,” said Lennert Wolfs of Tomorrowland Academy. He added that the collaboration with Asia Music Event opens the opportunity to DJs worldwide and gives one winner the chance to perform in Hong Kong.

The partnership also connects closely with AME’s plans to create greater access for emerging DJs, artists and young professionals across Asia. Ron Yung, Operations Director at Asia Music Event, explained that the conference wants to contribute to the next generation of the region’s music industry. Education, artist discovery and practical career opportunities all play a part in that goal. Through the Tomorrowland Academy contest, one emerging DJ will gain both a live performance and direct access to professionals working across the international electronic music business.

Beyond the contest, the first edition of Asia Music Event will welcome companies and professionals representing different sides of electronic music. Attendees will include artists, labels, festivals, platforms and other industry figures, while panels, workshops and community-led events will cover the wider business around the music. AME also plans to encourage collaboration between Asian and international markets as the region’s electronic music industry continues to expand. Further details surrounding the conference and its Official Closing Party will follow ahead of November 26–27 in Hong Kong.

deadmau5 takes over Red Rocks for Halloween on October 30 and 31 with two special shows and the return of mau5hop

For more than 15 years, deadmau5 has returned to Red Rocks Amphitheatre each fall, with the Colorado venue becoming a regular part of his seasonal live shows. This year, that tradition reaches a new point as he performs at Red Rocks on Halloween itself for the first time, with DEADMAU5 HALLOWEEN taking place on October 30 and 31. The two-night event will feature VOWWS, joined by Josh Freese and Danny Lohner, alongside special visuals, selections from deadmau5’s catalogue and new music. The weekend will also include the return of the mau5hop pop-up in Denver, with exclusive merchandise, collectibles and meet-and-greet sessions across both days.

VOWWS Joins deadmau5 For The Halloween Shows

VOWWS will join deadmau5 across the two nights, with Josh Freese and Danny Lohner also part of the performance. The Australian-born, Los Angeles-based duo of Matt James and Rizz have long worked across darker alternative and electronic sounds, with previous collaborations involving Gary Numan, Chino Moreno and Chelsea Wolfe.

Josh Freese, whose credits include A Perfect Circle, Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails and The Vandals, also appears on VOWWS’ latest album I’ll Fill Your House With An Army. Danny Lohner, known for his work with Nine Inch Nails and The Black Queen, will join the duo at Red Rocks as part of the expanded live lineup.

What deadmau5 Has Planned For Halloween

The October 30 and 31 shows will feature special Halloween visuals alongside selections from deadmau5’s catalogue and new music. Attendees are also being encouraged to come in costume across both nights.

The shows add a new chapter to deadmau5’s long history at Red Rocks, where his fall appearances have become a regular fixture over more than 15 years. He was back at the venue in 2025 for Day of the Dead, where he debuted new music and parts of a new touring production.

That period has continued into 2026 with ‘Science’ featuring Stevie Appleton, his first vocal single since ‘My Heart Has Teeth’. The track later reached No. 1 on US Dance Radio and also entered Billboard Dance/Mixshow Airplay and Canada CHR/Top 40.

mau5hop Returns For Halloween Weekend

The Halloween weekend will also include the return of mau5hop in Denver, opening on October 30 and 31 at 95 S Cherokee Street. The pop-up will run from 11:00 AM–6:00 PM each day with specialty merchandise, limited-edition apparel, pins and collectibles not available online or at the shows.

deadmau5 and friends are also due to appear for meet-and-greets and signings from 12:00 PM–3:00 PM on both days.

With the Red Rocks shows and mau5hop both returning across Halloween weekend, this year’s edition adds more around a tradition that has already become closely tied to deadmau5 and the venue. The biggest difference in 2026 is simple: for the first time, one of those shows will actually fall on Halloween night.

With VOWWS, Josh Freese and Danny Lohner joining the shows, new music expected and mau5hop returning to Denver, DEADMAU5 HALLOWEEN has plenty planned across the weekend. Limited tickets remain for both nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, with more from deadmau5 also expected in the months ahead.

BETH Turns Up the Energy With New Single ‘Wait’

Scottish producer BETH returns on The Cross Records with new single Wait, following a breakout 2026 of festival slots, Ibiza dates and Radio 1 support.

In the space of a year, BETH has gone from respected up and comer to a genuine festival act. Her debut on The Cross Records, “Keep It Movin’,” is closing in on 1 million streams, and she’s kept up a steady run of releases on labels like TSHA’s Jackfruit, Eats Everything’s Edible, and Melon Bomb Records, along with a well received remix of Karen Harding’s “Island.” That output has earned her support on BBC Radio 1, with plays from Sarah Story and Arielle Free.

Her live schedule has kept pace too. This year she’s played TRNSMT Festival, Sub Club, Cabaret Voltaire, and SWG3 in Scotland, Mas Que Nada in London, and Lakota in Bristol, plus Ibiza dates at Hï, Cova Santa, and Pikes.

“Wait” marks a step forward in her production. Where “Keep It Movin'” leaned into sultry, harmonic melodies, “Wait” goes bigger and brighter, built around euphoric piano chords, a driving 90s inspired break, and deep reese bass. It’s a feel good summer record from an artist whose rise shows no signs of slowing down.
