The very talented New York producer Francis Mercier has been really treating us electronic music fans to a ton of hot new releases the past couple of years. With releases on Armada Music and hitting #5 in the Beatport charts with Waiting For along with gaining support from Pete Tong, Tiesto, Oliver Heldens, Don Diablo and more, he is not showing any signs of slowing down. He treats us to yet another incredible track Feels Like I’m Alive together with Stockholm native Zak Ria on the very popular US label Deep Root Records.
Heated by a sultry vamping guitar, the track skips along a funky bass line with a muted focus and a lurking intensity. The keyboard steadies the energy of the other elements, settled just beneath the surface. Francis Mercier’s slick composition meets its match in Zak Ria’s soft coos. “Something’s hiding, something’s in the air now,” Zak Ria teases sullenly, before the duo makes it perfectly clear the specifics don’t matter. “Feels Like I’m Alive” tempts the listener, begging them to fall for its steamy cadences and to move to its alluring rhythm. Pairing funky basslines and soulful vocals, ‘Feels Like I’m Alive’ is a commercially ready deep house jam that settles club goers’ nerves and inhibitions with one burning question: do they matter?
