Behind the Vinyl Sleeve: The Organized Chaos of John Summit’s ‘Comfort in the Chaos’

It surely has been a year full of laughter, fun and success for John Summit

Now, after a highly anticipated wait, his album Comfort in Chaos is finally here. The name itself is a reminder that even in the chaos of life, we can find comfort. Similarly, it seems that John has found comfort in the thing he loves so much: producing music and playing sold out shows all across the globe.

The album released on Darkroom and Summit’s own Experts Only label includes 12 tracks that highlight his variety and emotional depth. Among the outstanding tracks are ‘EAT THE BASS’, ‘Shiver’ with HAYLA, and his most recent collaboration with Sub Focus, ‘Go Back’. Summit’s trademark blend of house, techno, and melodic beats is evident in these fan-favorite tracks.

One song that stands out throughout John Summit‘s career is ‘Where You Are’,  an unforgettable hit with HAYLA that catapulted him to fame. This song not only topped global charts, but it also became a mainstay in his live shows, embodying the spirit of his dynamic style and addictive enthusiasm. Summit’s breakthrough with ‘Where You Are’ catalyzed his development in the electronic music field and established him as a strong performer.

I’m sure that after seeing the mammoth of a year John’s been having, we’d all want to be where he is…basking in both the comforts and chaos of life, especially the electronic dance music one.

Aside from the record release, John Summit‘s big Madison Square Garden performance was a watershed moment in his career, as it was one of the largest house music shows in NYC history. He teased tunes from Comfort in Chaos, giving fans a sneak peak at his most recent work. The performance demonstrated his expanding impact and ability to connect with audiences on a large scale. Fans were treated to an incredible experience with songs from his new album, establishing his role as a key figure in the electronic music scene and emphasizing the seamless connection between his live performances and studio works.

The overriding theme of Comfort in Chaos is finding calm in the face of conflict. John Summit, whose real name is John Schuster, calls the album his most contemplative effort yet. The album’s emotional and musical content reflects his personal journey and artistic development. The album art, designed by Puerto Rican visual artist Marcos Alvarado, delves into concepts of consciousness and spirituality, lending visual depth to the album’s profound message.

To emphasize the chaos and rawness of music production, the vinyl edition of Comfort in Chaos includes a stunning inner cover with an assortment of desktop folders labeled with various album tracks. This visual portrayal of his creative process illustrates the structured chaos that underpins his music production, displaying the several ideas and drafts that eventually result in a polished track. This transparency not only emphasizes the careful effort put into his art, but also his willingness to open up about the turbulent trip, underlining the album’s key theme of finding solace in the midst of turmoil. Fans who buy the vinyl will get an intimate look into the chaos that inspires his creation, making the physical album a one-of-a-kind collectible.

With Comfort in Chaos climbing the charts and his tour dates selling out, John Summit continues to solidify his place as a leading figure in the electronic music scene. His ability to blend different genres and create deeply personal music has set him apart, making this album a milestone in his already impressive career.
