You only have ‘One Life’, so you better live it to the fullest. That empowering message is at the core of BIJOU and Kaleena Zanders’ brand-new collab (and debut record) on Armada Music. Drawing inspiration from their love for Nipsey Hussle and their obsession for west coast music culture, the record is an ode to the late rapper and a reminder that every single minute should be a moment well spent.
A pairing of solid beats, fresh vocals and peppered beat drops, ‘One Life’ is where sheer infectiousness meets dance floor flair. Showcasing the signature touches of American DJ/producer BIJOU and frequent accomplice Kaleena Zanders, this record holds an empowering message bound to make the crowd party even harder.
BIJOU: “We met through a mutual friend in 2016 (Andrew we love you) at a legendary rooftop club in Phoenix called Bar Smith. Our great friend Dr. Fresch was headlining that night and we had an instant connection. We were both inspired by Nipsey Hussle’s achievements in this one short life that he had. Secondly, we felt strongly about his passing and believe he did everything in his life to do as much as he possibly could. Not only for himself, but for others, and we both try to live the same way the best that we can.”
Kaleena Zanders: “‘One Life’ is more about a mindset that Nipsey Hussle brought about, and is a reflection of our history and friendship created together through dance music. We were deeply saddened by his passing and felt the need to write something not only inspired, but dedicated to him as well.”
Known for raising the bar and pushing the envelope of the G-House movement, BIJOU has been the name on everyone’s lips for a while now. His show-stopping 2016 collaboration with Dr. Fresch, ‘Hello’, marked a major turning point for his career in music and Future Ghetto as a whole. In the same week, his debut on Night Bass thrust BIJOU to the forefront of the G-House movement and he has never looked back. He has since gained massive support from the likes of AC Slater, Destructo, Don Diablo, Drezo, Malaa, Party Favor and more, started 2019 by launching his own recordDND RECS with a massive 2-track EP called ‘Gangsta Party’, and has been taking charge at monumental festivals such as EDC Vegas 2019.
Kaleena Zanders is one of the go-to vocalists in electronic dance music. In the past few years, she frequented the airwaves both in the US and various other countries, worked with the likes of Breathe Carolina, Dropgun, Morgan Page, AC Slater, and Loud Luxury and gained support from the likes of Diplo, Oliver Heldens and Benny Benassi on her song ‘California’, the quintessential 2015 summer track that’s still being playing on the radio. On the live front, she performs regularly on major festivals such as Coachella, EDC, CRSSD, and LA clubs such as Exchange LA, Avalon, The Novo, and Belasco Theatre.
