Black Coffee Makes History with First-Ever Residency at Newly Redesigned Brooklyn Mirage

New York City’s premier nightlife destination, The Brooklyn Mirage, is set to redefine the electronic music experience with a revolutionary redesign and its first-ever artist residency. GRAMMY Award-winning DJ Black Coffee will headline this historic series, marking his first New York City residency beginning May 4, 2025.

Cutting-Edge Venue Transformation

The iconic East Williamsburg venue has undergone a complete transformation, featuring a new custom L-Acoustics sound system and an immersive 270-degree virtual environment. This state-of-the-art visual setup boasts an impressive 30K resolution, 100 million pixels, and over 3,000 tiles, creating what venue operators promise will be an unparalleled audiovisual experience.

Black Coffee’s Historic Residency

The residency represents a full-circle moment for the South African DJ, who previously sold-out multiple performances at The Brooklyn Mirage in 2019, 2021, and 2022. Black Coffee made history in recent years as the first African DJ to sell out Madison Square Garden, further cementing his status as one of electronic music’s most influential artists.

“New York has always been a special place for me and one of the most exciting crowds to come and spread love with,” said Black Coffee. “I’m honored to hold the first-ever residency at The Brooklyn Mirage, but even more so excited to make the newly re-vamped venue my NYC home for four dates in 2025!”

A New Era for NYC Nightlife

Josh Wyatt, CEO of Avant Gardner, emphasized the significance of this partnership: “As we prepare to unveil our new build, we also sought to stake New York City’s claim as a must-visit destination for artists and music lovers and to offer the same residencies that have transformed other cities into music destinations.”

The four-date residency will take place on May 4, July 3, August 24, and October 19, 2025. Each performance promises to showcase Black Coffee’s signature “Afropolitan” sound—a distinctive blend of metropolitan techno with traditional South African influences that has become one of today’s leading global dance music genres.

The Brooklyn Mirage, voted North America’s “Best Large Club” in 2022 and 2023, continues to solidify its reputation as one of the world’s premier electronic music venues. This groundbreaking residency and venue redesign mark an exciting new chapter for New York City’s nightlife scene.
