BLAK Festival Reveals Lineup for First Outdoor Edition
BLAK Festival reveals the lineup for its first outdoor edition, bringing trance, techno, hard techno and hardstyle to Genting Highlands
BLAK Festival began as an indoor hard techno and hardstyle concept from Evolution Events Asia, the promoter behind events across Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand and Australia. After launching in Kuala Lumpur in 2025 and returning with another arena edition in 2026, the brand is now heading outdoors for the first time. On January 30, 2027, BLAK Festival will take over Resorts World Awana in Genting Highlands with two stages and a wider mix of trance, techno, hard techno and hardstyle.
The Lineup Expands BLAK Beyond Its Harder Roots
For its 2027 edition, BLAK Festival is bringing a wider mix of genres into the event. Chris Liebing and Sam Paganini add two established techno names, while Kander, ONLYNUMBERS, Svetec and The Saints represent the harder end of the lineup. Phuture Noize and The Straikerz continue BLAK’s connection with hardstyle, which has already been a major part of its earlier events.

Cosmic Gate and Gareth Emery add trance to the festival for the first time, alongside the techno, hard techno and hardstyle already associated with BLAK. Darren Styles brings his background across UK hardcore and hardstyle, while Ashley Lau, Mr. Yang, Alam, Dora, Fenrick, Meliah, Meliha, Negitiv, ODD, Victor G and Wesufo give the two-stage event a stronger regional presence.
From BLAK Arena to Its First Outdoor Festival in Genting Highlands
BLAK first launched at Mega Star Arena in Kuala Lumpur in 2025, with its early identity centred on hard techno and hardstyle. The brand returned in 2026 at XOX Arena, The Arch Galeries, where 999999999, Fatima Hajji, AZYR, NIKOLINA, KLOFAMA, Joshua Dillon and SUHSI were among the artists on the lineup. Those first two editions established BLAK within the harder side of the electronic dance music scene before the concept expanded further for 2027.
Behind the event, Evolution Events Asia has spent years working across hard techno, hardstyle, trance and other parts of the electronic dance music scene. Its wider work in the region has included events such as We Are On The Mission Bangkok and support for the growth of harder styles across Southeast Asia, including projects covered in KODEX: A Big Step for Harder Styles in Southeast Asia. That experience now feeds into BLAK’s biggest edition so far, with more genres, a larger international lineup and an outdoor setting in Genting Highlands.
With Chris Liebing, Cosmic Gate, Gareth Emery, Darren Styles, Phuture Noize, Sam Paganini and more confirmed for January 30, the next BLAK edition marks a major change from the arena events that introduced the brand. Its first outdoor festival brings several sides of the electronic dance music scene together in one event, while keeping the harder genres that have been part of BLAK from the beginning.
