This year has already seen the 10th anniversary of a bunch of absolutely historic electronic music, and now adding to that list is the sensational ‘Virus.’ Created by the monstrous pairing of Martin Garrix and MOTi, ‘Virus’ would take the festival and club scene by storm with its amazing melody and insanely powerful drop.
Prior to working together on this track, Garrix and MOTi had already known each other for several years having both come from Amsterdam and having done various shows together. They would often send tracks to each other for advice and did work on a couple projects together, however it was ‘Virus’ that would be the project that would see completion. Even before its release there was a lot of excitement and anticipation surrounding the song with Garrix debuting it at Mysteryland and some other huge DJs including it in their sets such as Avicii, Nicky Romero, Hardwell and David Guetta.
Though ‘Virus’ wouldn’t see much chart success, it would fast become a fan favourite and has cemented itself as one of Martin Garrix and MOTi’s best songs. It would also help with Martin Garrix’s meteoric climb from 40th to 4th on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs chart as he quickly established himself as one of the biggest artists in the world. Along with all this ‘Virus’ provided us all with one of the most iconic moments in music history at Ultra Music Festival 2022 when Garrix shouted “F**K CORONA” before the drop. Martin Garrix and MOTi coming together to make this track was a gift to the music world. Would you like to see them collaborate again?
