Celebrating Illenium’s 34th Birthday
On December 26, 1990, the world was introduced to one of electronic music’s most influential figures—Nicholas Daniel Miller, better known by his stage name, Illenium. Born in Downers Grove, Illinois, Illenium’s early life was shaped by a diverse range of experiences. He spent much of his childhood in Chicago but also lived in Seattle and France before ultimately settling down in Denver, Colorado where he resides now and continues developing his passion for music.
The Beginnings of a Musical Journey
Illenium’s passion for music took root in his teenage years, but it wasn’t until he first attended a concert at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado that he truly began to take music seriously. Inspired by the powerful energy of live electronic music, he soon started producing his own remixes, followed by original tracks and EPs. His breakthrough came in 2016 with the release of his debut album, Ashes. The album not only showcased his signature blend of melodic bass and emotional depth but also marked the beginning of his touring career across the U.S.

In 2017, Illenium followed up with a sophomore release, Awake, an album that further established his reputation as a leading force in melodic bass music. The album featured collaborations with artists such as Seven Lions, Gryffin, and Nevve, adding layers of emotional depth and melodic complexity to his sound. Tracks like Good Things Fall Apart and Crawl Outta Love became instant fan favorites, further proving Illenium’s place at the forefront of the melodic scene. Awake proved to be a major milestone, earning him widespread recognition and opening doors for larger festival performances and international tours.

Songs like Crashing and Heavenly Side resonated with fans for their emotional intensity, while collaborations with Jon Bellion and the Chainsmokers expanded Illenium’s audience even further.
Following the release of Ascend, Illenium took the opportunity to honor his musical journey with a special trilogy of performances at the newly constructed Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. These shows, held across three dates—July 3, 2021; June 17, 2023 in Colorado; and the final set at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles (2024) —celebrated his body of work from each album era. Each set was dedicated to one of his albums (Ashes, Awake, and Ascend), giving fans a unique opportunity to experience the evolution of his sound live. These performances were not only a visual and auditory spectacle but also a moment of personal reflection, marking the transition into his next phase of musical exploration.

Illenium’s career has been marked by numerous accolades and achievements, solidifying his place as a leader in the dance and electronic music world.
