DJ Mag Announces Plans For Reimagined Top 100 Clubs 2021!

DJ Mag, the world’s leading electronic music magazine, has announced the dates for this year’s Top 100 Clubs poll. The 2021 edition of the poll, which typically runs annually from December-April, had been delayed due to the impact of the pandemic on the nightlife industry but will now launch this Wednesday (12th May) – reimagined for the current times.

The coronavirus pandemic continues to force the closure of thousands of clubs worldwide. While clubs in some parts of the world are beginning to reopen this year, many are unable to do so. Under the unifying belief that now is not the time to hide clubs away, DJ Mag made the decision to use their platforms to celebrate and support the global nightclub industry as we start to imagine a return to the dancefloor globally.

DJ Mag will celebrate venues through the launch of the Top 100 Clubs 2021 Virtual World Tour, a nine-week virtual showcase open to clubs of all sizes across the globe which you can watch on FacebookYouTube and Twitch pages.

The sets are taking a variety of forms: they may be a DJ set from an empty club, a classic set from the club at its peak, or a live set from a club that is currently able to open legally and safely.

Alongside this, DJ Mag will be supporting clubs through a directory — available to any venue around the world — on top100clubs.com (from 12th May) and all voting pages during the event period. This directory will collate fundraising efforts by clubs across the world. Each territory is in a different position in terms of the pandemic this year. So each club is in a different situation.

These fundraising efforts could be a direct link to a Crowdfunder campaign supporting the club in question; it may be a link to purchase advance tickets for the venue when it’s open, or to buy merchandise that helps fund the club. It could also be a link to a charitable organisation that a club is supporting locally, such as a food bank or local community organisation.

While these streams are running on DJ Mag’s channels, there will be a link that will enable viewers to donate to crowdfunders linked from within the Top 100 Clubs 2021 Virtual World Tour content.

In addition, DJ Mag have committed to donate a portion of their advertising inventory to participating clubs who are in extreme hardship due to the pandemic.

Martin Carvell, managing director, DJ Mag said: “While dancefloors in certain parts of the world are beginning to reopen, many more are unable to do so. We believe this year’s reimagined Top 100 Clubs will provide an exciting new platform for our community to celebrate and support global nightclub culture safely, until we can all return to the dancefloor together.”

The virtual world tour is open to electronic music clubs across the sector, who can apply by contacting top100clubs-virtual@djmag.com

The Top 100 Clubs Virtual World Tour will run from Saturday 15th May — running every Saturday until the middle of July. Watch out on DJMag.com and our social channels for announcements.

Club culture is something to be proud of. Please join DJ Mag, where you can, in supporting and celebrating the world’s most exciting dancefloors.

Voting goes live at vote.djmag.com this Wednesday 12th May and runs until 14th July.

Black and white high-energy shot of Fred Again.. screaming with excitement behind the decks in front of a massive, crowded festival tent with New EDM Friday Jan 23.

New EDM Friday Jan 23 is here and it has music from Fred again.. ft. Young Thug, David Guetta & MORTEN, Zeds Dead, and more.

The final full week of January has arrived, and it is officially STACKED. From cinematic drum & bass to glitchy emotional resets and “Future Rave” weapons, 2026 is already proving to be a year of creative risk-taking. Here are the releases you cannot miss today. And if you missed it, this is your official guide to the biggest releases for New EDM Friday Jan 23.

Fred again.. ft. Young Thug – scared

Following a relentless run of club-ready collaborations, Fred again.. returns with one of his most high-profile pairings yet, joining forces with Young Thug for “scared.” The track leans into a moody, mid-tempo groove, blending Fred’s signature atmospheric textures and organic percussion with Thugger’s unmistakable, elastic vocal delivery. It’s a haunting yet infectious record that bridges the gap between London’s underground electronic pulse and Atlanta’s trap royalty. Notably, “scared” stands out as one of the must-hear tracks on New EDM Friday Jan 23.

David Guetta & MORTEN ft. Trippie Redd – Locked In

The Future Rave movement enters a new chapter as David Guetta and MORTEN recruit Trippie Redd for “Locked In.” This collaboration brings a dark, hip-hop edge to the duo’s signature big-room techno sound. The contrast between the heavy, subterranean basslines and Trippie’s melodic, raspy flow creates a high-energy anthem built for the world’s biggest mainstages. Furthermore, Locked In brings massive festival energy to this week’s New EDM Friday Jan 23 lineup.

Zeds Dead ft. IMANU & MKLA – Runaway

Canadian legends Zeds Dead link up with Rotterdam visionary IMANU and vocalist MKLA for the stunning new single “Runaway.” Released via Deadbeats, this is a cinematic fusion of future bass and drum & bass. Opening with luminous synths and an ethereal drop, the track subverts expectations by erupting into a high-octane second half that showcases IMANU’s razor-sharp DnB sensibilities. MKLA’s delicate yet commanding vocals serve as the emotional anchor, making this a truly timeless piece of electronic art. As a highlight of New EDM Friday Jan 23, this release should not be overlooked.

Tej – HEY ME, IT’S ME (EP)

Mumbai-born, US-based artist Tej marks a major milestone today with his debut EP, HEY ME, IT’S ME, out on San Holo’s bitbird. Positioned somewhere between the emotional weight of Fred again.. and the disruptive energy of 33 Below, the EP is a personal reset for the 25-year-old. Focus track “A MOMENT I REMEMBER” captures warm emotional release through glitchy vocal work and playful bass. With early support from Skrillex and San Holo himself, Tej is officially one to watch in 2026. In summary, New EDM Friday Jan 23 delivers a diverse mix of talent and sounds for electronic fans everywhere.

Team Shawn – DRUM (DA DA DA DA)

Neumonic & Mary Droppinz – What?

Bass music’s rising star Neumonic joins forces with LA-based veteran Mary Droppinz for the experimental dubstep cut, “What?.” This track is a dark, euphoric journey that switches between breakbeats and classic UK dubstep staples like wobbling basslines and dub sirens. It’s a “head-turning” record that lives up to its name, pushing the boundaries of sound design in a way that has already garnered support from Jamie xx and Skrillex.

Nostalgix – Fall Apart

Ahead of her debut album Inferno, Nostalgix reveals her most vulnerable side yet with “Fall Apart.” In a striking departure from her usual high-octane bass house energy, this track is a slow-burn emotional release built on lyrical storytelling and restrained tension. It documents a moment of internal reckoning, showcasing the Iranian-born producer’s growth as both a songwriter and a vocalist as she prepares for her massive 2026 album tour.

Shlump – Oh My Gatos

Bay Area producer Shlump kicks off a new era with “Oh My Gatos,” the first single from his forthcoming debut full-length album on WAKAAN. Moving beyond rigid “build-drop” formulas, the track is character-rich bass music filled with warped low-end and off-kilter sound design. After going viral on social media with millions of views, the “Gatos” energy is officially ready for the dancefloor. New EDM Friday Jan 23 delivers something exciting for every dance music enthusiast.
