Drumsheds is one of the biggest and best clubs in the UK having hosted some of the biggest names in electronic music and boasting an incredible 15,000 capacity. However, recently the clubs future has been in jeopardy as their license has been under review by Enfield Council following some serious incidents.
Towards the end of last year there were two cases of people dying due to drug use at the venue as well as someone being stabbed. An investigation into these incidents lead to the conclusion that Drumsheds had some big failings in their security procedures with people not being searched properly on entry along with a lack of care shown by the inhouse medical staff. This led to their license coming under review as the club was deemed unsafe.
Thankfully Drumsheds has been allowed to keep their license as long as they follow certain conditions to ensure the safety of all club goers and staff. Searches upon entry are now much more thorough which has led to some complaints but will undoubtably make it a safer environment. There is also an increased police presence to ensure that any problems can be dealt with and that the response times can be quick which could save lives.
Though some of the changes that have been implemented have made for longer queues into the venue leading to some people going as far as requesting refunds for their tickets, these changes are absolutely necessary to avoid anymore horrific incidents. Drumsheds is a cornerstone of the UK club scene and in an era where there has been such a catastrophic amount of clubs shutting down it would be devastating to add them to that list.
