Los Angeles based DJ and Producer, Figment, Named Insomniac Record’s Discovery Project Winner after receiving the most votes from fans during Insomniac’s EDC Las Vegas #Rave-A-Thon LiveStream.
More than 800 artists submitted for a chance to be featured on Insomniac Records virtual stage for this year’s EDC Las Vegas Festival dubbed #Rave-A-Thon. Of those that submitted, 47 artists were hand picked to be a part of this year’s “Discovery Project” – a platform for rising dance music producers and artists to stream their live performances directly alongside the EDC festival headliners. Fans were asked to vote for their favorite performance during the live stream event, and Insomniac notified all competitors of the winner via email on May 26. We are excited to announce that the first ever Insomniac Records EDC Las Vegas #Rave-A-Thon Discovery Project winner is Madrid born, LA-based producer, Figment.
Figment has been gaining momentum as a fast-rising, free-thinking techno artist, first being listed in Buzzfeed as one of the “Upcoming Techno Producers To Watch in 2020” and most recently being featured on a list of “5 Artists Who Stole The Show at Insomniac Events’ EDC #Rave-A-Thon” – all without having a single official release yet, as all his tracks to date have been world premiered as podcast exclusives. A spokesperson stated that the artist is planning on releasing his first single in July, 2020.
While the live EDC Las Vegas event has been officially delayed until October 2020 due to concerns and restrictions over COVID-19, Insomniac Records hosted a successful virtual event, referred to as a #Rave-A-Thon, this summer. Millions of viewers tuned in over the 3 days, live streaming across multiple platforms including YouTube, Twitch and Insomniac.tv during any given moment.
Other artists who delivered highly engaged performances included hotly tipped acid techno act i_o, rising dubstep/riddim producer Subtronics, the Lebanese techno stalwart Nicole Moudaber, and West Coast booty bass don Claude VonStroke. Nearly 100 established and emerging artists performed over the three day period.
Reached for comment Figment had a few quick words: “Thanks to Pasquale Rotella, Insomniac Records’ Joe Wiseman and the entire team at Insomniac Events’ Discovery Project for the opportunity. Thank you to the headliner fans who know that in reality, this music competition is not about artist hype or big costumes but just about connecting with people through music. Thanks to everyone who voted for the music.”
Figment won the Discovery Project by receiving the most votes from fans. With over 100,000 followers on Instagram and a growing international fan base from his biweekly curated online show, The Not Figment Podcast.
