Firebeatz Talk New Music, Growth As EDM Artists, Dream Collabs And More!

Dutch legendary DJ/producer duo Firebeatz returns with perhaps their most acclaimed single to date, ‘Bad Habit’. In essence, this is a club tune, drenched in feelgood vibes, but with the potential of turning into a worldwide pop gem. Better get ready, something special is about to make waves, out now on Spinnin’ Records. We had the pleasure of interviewing Firebeatz to celebrate their latest release, and you can see the answers below:

As your first solo release of the year, how happy are both of you with the end product of ‘Bad Habit’ and how do you feel about its home on Spinnin’ Records?
“Very cool to work with this amazing old sample and make into something new. For us it was also great to release yet another groovy and housy track. And grateful for Spinnin to support these more groovier sounds as well.”

As residents on Spinnin’ Records for over 10 years now, how has the evaluation of yourselves as artists and also the evaluation of the label been over the past decade?
“When we started we are all about house music and groove. Later we dug into tech house and from those melodic sounds we dived into Big Room. But actually came full circle as these days we prominently making house music again. You could say the same for Spinnin who almost made the same cycle and we are very pleased that they give us the support to explore these sounds again. And to be honest we owe a lot to Jorn and Roger for helping us craft our signature sound. Forever grateful for their time, effort and support.”

Staying on the topic of Spinnin’ Records, with over 35 releases on the record label, which tracks stands out to both of you the most over the past few years?
“That’s a very hard question. Every track his its own story and context. Wouldn’t be fair to pick one as they all contributed to our story.”

Moving onto production style, having dipped your toes into multiple genres such as Electro, Big Room, Progressive, Future House and many more, how important is it for you both to experiment with different sounds and step outside the box?
“It’s very very important to experiment and do weird stuff with samples for instance. Explore the boundaries and beyond. Labels always want you to ‘keep’ your sound certainly as it sells, but you need to challenge your creativity. This has always been our strategy.”

Having previously worked together with artists such as Nervo, Lucas & Steve, Jay Hardway, Sander van Doorn and more, who would be the perfect collab for you guys with your current signature sound?
“Very simple. Love Generator. An alias of the legendary Calvin Harris. “

Moving over to your live shows, what are the two go-to tracks (one of your own, one other) that you love to play live at your shows?
“The club mix of Bad Habit.  We have been testing this for a while in clubs and it is an instant floor filler. for sure. The other go-to track is  Peace Love Happiness from Love Generator. Hopefully helps this to create a track together ;-)”

Taking a step away from music, what do you both enjoy to do in your spare time away from the studio?
“Most of spare time is spend on our families of course. But besides that we are true foodies, love gaming and playing sports.”

As we end the interview, is there any exclusive news you could maybe give us about upcoming projects?
“Well, we just finished building our digital setup so we can help lots of new talent with our knowledge on producing music. Which will also help to scout new talent for our label Ignite. Check our website soon for more info.”
