Gorgon City Release Highly-Anticipated Album ‘Olympia’!

Today, renowned British production duo Gorgon City has released their third album Olympia, via Astralwerks. Listen HERE and watch the video for their latest track “Dreams” with Jem Cooke HERE.

Speaking on Olympia Gorgon City say, “With this record we’ve definitely gone more clubby and have been inspired by the big shows that we played before lockdown. It’s a bigger sound and lyrically it’s different for us”

Later this year, the duo will embark on the accompanying Olympia album tour – a run of some of their most ambitious shows to date – highlights include the sold out Los Angeles date at Shrine Expo Hall, their stop in Brooklyn, NY, at The Great Hall and the tour coming to a close at London’s iconic Printworks. The duo has now sold over 40,000 tickets this year across their US and UK headline tour. Alongside this, they will also see self-curated Back To Love dates take place in London’s Finsbury Park on August 7th and 8th.

An album shrouded in Greek mythology, Olympia celebrates themes of escapism and exploration, as social freedom finally feels like a reality. Full of dancefloor fillers, Olympia is a collection of the duo’s work over the last few years, while digging deeper into the sounds, experiences and emotions that have influenced their lives and work.

Olympia continues the pair’s form for identifying new singing talent. Matt and Kye typically prefer to work with singers and songwriters operating outside of the dance music sphere – introducing new, stimulating elements to the Gorgon City oeuvre. Eleven different singers appear across Olympia, exploring primordial themes of love and loss over an array of euphoric piano anthems (on the Hayley May-assisted “Never Let Me Down”), driving bass-lines (“Dreams” with Jem Cooke), and woozy melancholic house (“Nobody” with DRAMA).

With Kye now residing in the birthplace of house music, Chicago, and Matt remaining in London, the creation of Olympia marked a career first for the duo, having produced the project from entirely separate continents – but that has not dimmed their light.

Formed in 2012, Gorgon City have sold over 10 million singles and clocked up over 1.5 billion streams. While the duo are no strangers to chart success with hits such as “Ready For Your Love,” their sound is rooted deep in club culture and made for live shows. Many songs get road-tested in clubs before being put onto an album. The live setting is where the duo truly thrives – 2019 saw amazing sets around the world including Coachella, EDC Vegas and Israel’s Get Lost Festival, as well as sold-out shows from iconic UK venues such as Printworks, Warehouse Project and Tobacco Dock.

In ancient Greece, Olympia was a site of sanctuary where people would gather to praise Zeus. In creating their own Olympia, Gorgon City pay tribute to these historic human rituals – and welcome the return of collective euphoria.
