Hakala is a Southern California native tech house producer and DJ. He burst on to the Los Angeles underground scene in 2016 establishing residencies at weekly warehouse events and clubs in no time. known for blending tribal drums with harder-hitting baselines as well as throwing in his own edits of 80’s hip hop. As a producer, he is now honing in on a specific style of tech-house that suggests big spaces but with the tightest sounds. Like a tuned drum skin it’s all about the bounce. Music that will both take apart big rooms and squeeze the sweat out of the smaller warehouses.
After posting some mixes and WIPs to his Soundcloud page, 2019 was the year that kick started the emergence of Hakala. Although he would upload some hip hop and r&b beats to his Souncloud, he opened up his catalog as a producer with the infections house number ‘u feel me?’. Since then, Hakala has been a bright spark on our sound systems, keeping his momentum rolling with great release after great release. He kicked off 2020 is style with his edit of ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ and is now treating us to another edit, this time of ‘Don’t Sweat The Technique’.
This edit, which is available to download for free on his Soundcloud page, uses the previously introduced house style to perfection. With rhythmic drums and soulful samples, the single kicks off on the right foot. He incorporates groovy bass lines into the mix and as the track progresses, he keeps adding fresh sounds on top that keep the listener interested. The track is then topped off perfectly as all sounds come together at the drops and the funk is taken sky-high. Having recently uploaded a mix with unreleased, we can’t wait to see which one he has decided to treat us to next.
