Hardwell & Mitch Crown’s ‘Call Me A Spaceman’ Celebrates 12th Anniversary

Astonishingly it’s been 12 years since the release of what is Hardwell’s most iconic song ‘Call Me A Spaceman.’ Originally it was released as an instrumental called ‘Spaceman’ on the 23rd January 2012, but only a few months later Hardwell came back with a new version with the now unforgettable vocals added by the Dutch singer Mitch Crown to create this legendary hit that he released on his record label Revealed Recordings. This song made Hardwell one of the biggest names in Electronic Music and would kickstart his journey to becoming the king of Big Room House.

Hardwell had already been making a name for himself in the couple years before the release of ‘Call Me A Spaceman’ collaborating with other big names on the scene such as Nicky Romero, Showtek, Dannic and even Tiesto with their song ‘Zero 76.’ But ‘Call Me A Spaceman’ would launch him from a recognisable DJ to a household name on the Electronic Music scene. On July 28th 2012 he would perform at the biggest festival in the world, Tomorrowland, where he would open his set with the now iconic track.

Since its release, Hardwell has gone on to dominate the Big Room House scene and pioneer the genre of Big Room Techno which was the staple of his latest album ‘Rebels Never Die.’ The deluxe edition of this album would also include a brand-new version of ‘Spaceman’ which incorporated the unmistakable melody with Hardwell’s new style to create a huge festival banger to be heard and felt for miles around.

Even 12 years on from its release ‘Call Me A Spaceman’ is considered one of the biggest songs in Electronic Music history and it will stay that way for many years to come. The thumping kick and infectious melody will forever echo around the minds of everyone who’s heard it and provide many more fists pumping in the air in ecstasy.
