Henry Moores, a 22-year-old from Macclesfield, has achieved an extraordinary feat by walking 2,400 kilometers from Manchester, England to Ibiza, Spain to raise funds for the Tony Hudgell Foundation. On June 16, after 66 days of relentless trekking, Henry triumphantly arrived on the White Isle, having raised an impressive £125,938—nearly triple his initial goal.
Henry’s journey to Ibiza follows his successful 800-kilometer walk to Paris in 2023, during which he raised over £19,000. Motivated to push his limits and create a larger impact, Henry embarked on this new challenge. “I’ve always wanted to do something massive, maybe a bit crazy, to catch people’s attention,” he told Euro News.
The Tony Hudgell Foundation, named after nine-year-old Tony Hudgell who lost both legs due to severe abuse from his biological parents, was the cause Henry chose to support. Tony’s adoptive mother, Paula Hudgell, established the foundation to help children suffering from physical, emotional, and psychological abuse.
Henry’s ambitious endeavor quickly captured the public’s attention and support on social media, leading to his initial fundraising goal of £50,000 being met two days before he reached Ibiza. With the target now set at £150,000, donations have surged to £128,627 within just three days.
Support for Henry extended beyond financial contributions. Fans flew out to cheer him on, walk alongside him, and provide essentials like food, clothes, deodorant, and toothbrushes. Celebrities such as Johnny Fisher and Kai Fagan also joined him, boosting his morale along the way.
Henry’s epic walk from Manchester to Ibiza is a shining example of blending personal ambition with philanthropy. His journey not only aims to raise significant funds for charity but also serves as an inspiration for others to pursue their dreams while contributing to the greater good.
In an interview with the BBC, Henry revealed that he “100% plans to party,” – a more than well-deserved celebration after his incredible achievement. Donations to the Tony Hudgell Foundation can be made through JustGiving.com, and you can follow Henry’s future challenges that he’s already started planning, on Instagram and TikTok.
