HI-LO and Space 92 Team Up On Rousing Techno Stomper ‘Mercury’!

Oliver Heldens continues his blistering run of form under his techno-focused HI-LO guise with a big new track on Filth On Acid created alongside label mainstay, Space 92.

‘Mercury’ makes for a real epic journey of a track. Bubbling arpeggios give the intro a murky texture as the growling main riff teases into action. Rubbery kick drums and urgent cymbal rides soon arrive to blast the track into life, subtle textures morphing and modulating in the distance. Snare rolls tease before the menacing lead reveals more of itself. The spine-tingling breakdown takes its cues from classic dark trance, with a playful, fairytale-like chime melody giving us a break from the industrious weight of the rest of the track. After the drop, these two moods blend together as the chime melody emerges atop the weighty groove, making for a powerful finale.

Oliver Heldens is enjoying his usual busy summer, playing a record-breaking four times across Tomorrowland’s two weekends this month—twice as HI-LO, on the Drumcode and Filth On Acid stages. He recently released the mighty ‘Flying Octopus’ with Filth On Acid boss Reinier Zonneveld, and remixed Adam Beyer’s 2021 collaboration ‘Restore My Soul’ with the legendary DJ Rush to great acclaim.

Hailed by critics as “one of techno’s most sought-after acts of the decade” Space 92’s rise to international superstardom over the past few years has been meteoric to say the least. One of the best-selling Techno artists in the world for the third consecutive year in 2022, the prolific, in-demand Frenchman has risen to a level where he is now one of the most sought-after talents in electronic music. Cutting his teeth as a producer first and foremost, Space 92 is now an active globetrotting DJ, wowing huge crowds at festivals and nightclubs all over the world, where he showcases his prolific catalogue of hard-hitting releases on leading labels such as FORM Music, Filth On Acid, 1605, and Kneaded Pains, amongst others. Passionate, industrious, and with an ear for the very freshest four-to-the-floor techno soundscapes, Space 92 is already leaving an indelible mark on the scene and he’s only just getting started.
