Holmzen And epcWrld Talk About Their New Single, Making Their Debut, Goals As Artists & More!

Making your debut can be a daunting task, with the pressure of making the perfect first impression taking over and dominating the worries of artists. One artist who has overcome that pressure and has unveiled an amazing debut single is Holmzen. The American artist has just made his debut with the release of ‘When The World Falls Apart’ alongside epcWrld. A vocal-driven progressive house anthem, Holmzen has set the bar high for what is to come in the future. We had the pleasure of speaking with Holmzen and epcWrld on a number of topics.

Hey Holmzen and epcWrld, thanks for speaking with us, how are you doing?
We’re doing well, thank you for having us.

Let’s kick things off with your debut single, ‘When The World Falls Apart’, alongside epcWrld. How happy are you both with the finished product?
We’re pretty happy with the final product, the making of the song was very interesting. Erik (epcWrld) was in Mexico the whole time so it took a lot of communication for us to write and record the lyrics. Also, the day after we finished recording his computer broke, so we were fortunate to get everything done beforehand.

How was it to work alongside epcWrld?
Amazing! I met him through a mutual friend, Levi Klaussen. When I wrote the song I was looking for a singer for a few months. I remembered him from when we met back in 2021, and sent him the instrumental. Everything basically took off from there. We will definitely be working together in the future, we are already collaborating on another single right now and have more planned moving forward.

This single officially kickstarts your journey as an artist, how does it feel to finally have your first release out there?
For my first single, I really wanted to release something that had a lot of meaning behind it for me. The song is mostly about my anxiety and pushing through it to finally release my music for people to hear. For the past 4 years, I have been making music in my room and started working on it seriously in the past year and a half. I’ve struggled with the worry that I do not make good music because I didn’t grow up as a musician. I’m mostly self-taught, and it is really exciting for me to finally release a song I am proud of.

Do you expect to start experimenting with more and more genres as you grow or will we be hearing more from you within the progressive house genre?
More than likely I will be staying in the progressive house genre, but my goal with progressive house is to really challenge the boundaries of the genre similarly to Avicii before he passed. I have taken a lot of inspiration from him in my music. In the future, I will be exploring how to blend more genres together with progressive house as the main focus.

What are your personal goals as an artist for the coming months?
I want to try and push the boundaries of what I can do as an artist. I’ve built a great team around me and we are doing everything we can to push this genre further, and to make progressive house more popular in the mainstream again. I have a long way to go and I’m happy with my first single, but I am learning more music theory and piano to make my music even better.

Do you have any plans to get on stage and perform as a DJ or are you exclusively a producer?
A big goal for me is performing, so I am working on booking more gigs performing as a DJ. I have performed a few shows this year, and I have a gig coming up on July 9th in Seattle, Washington at the Nook.

Have you been busy these past few months working on new music and can we expect to hear it soon?
I have been incredibly busy writing music and collaborating with other artists, especially epcWrld. I am releasing my next single early next month called ‘Until Morning’. I don’t want to spoil too much but it’s a full instrumental progressive house piece with techno elements mixed in.

Thanks for taking your time to speak with us, do you have anything else to announce with our readers?
