Insomniac and ADE Launch New Map Point Summit
Insomniac and Amsterdam Dance Event launch Map Point Summit, a new three-day gathering for electronic music and rave culture debuting in Las Vegas in May 2027
Electronic music’s global industry calendar will gain a new gathering in 2027 as Insomniac joins forces with Amsterdam Dance Event for Map Point Summit. The three-day event will take place at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas in May 2027, between EDC’s Dusk weekend from May 14–16 and Dawn weekend from May 21–23. Aspiring creators, independent promoters, artists, entrepreneurs and established professionals will come together to exchange knowledge, form new connections and explore opportunities across rave culture.
Why the Name Map Point Matters
Long before festival locations could be found through a phone, underground raves often kept their addresses secret until the night of the event. Ravers would first travel to a designated “map point,” where they received directions and a physical map leading them to the party. Insomniac and Amsterdam Dance Event have brought that term back for a conference focused on helping people navigate their own place within electronic music.
The reference also connects closely with the summit’s focus on the independent communities that helped rave culture grow. Rather than limiting the event to established companies and executives, Map Point Summit will include rising creators, promoters and entrepreneurs alongside experienced industry figures. The goal is to create more opportunities for knowledge to pass between different generations and areas of the scene.
Pasquale Rotella Introduced the Idea at ADE
The summit grew out of a wider conversation Pasquale Rotella brought to the 30th edition of Amsterdam Dance Event. During a keynote titled The Future of Rave Culture and Why It Needs Its Own Industry, the Insomniac founder and CEO joined Billboard Dance Director Katie Bain to discuss the pressures facing independent promoters and the future of electronic music’s live sector.
Much of that discussion centred on protecting the grassroots values that gave rave culture its foundation as the industry continues to grow. Pasquale Rotella argued that independent promoters need stronger support, while younger creators need better access to knowledge and opportunities. He also called for an electronic music ecosystem capable of developing on its own terms rather than relying entirely on structures created for other areas of entertainment.
“We need to support independent promoters, share knowledge, create opportunities for the next generation, and work together to build an industry that allows rave culture to thrive on its own terms,” Pasquale Rotella said.
What Map Point Summit Will Offer
Bringing that discussion into a three-day event allows Insomniac and Amsterdam Dance Event to combine different areas of expertise. ADE has spent three decades connecting electronic music professionals through conferences, education and networking, while Insomniac brings its experience across festivals, clubs and live events.
Attendees can expect industry conversations, educational sessions, creative workshops and opportunities to meet people working across electronic music. Alongside career development, the summit will also examine how independent and community-led events can grow without losing the identity that made them important in the first place.
Those conversations are intended for people at different stages of their careers, from newcomers trying to understand how the industry works to established professionals exchanging ideas with the next generation. By bringing those groups into the same space, Map Point Summit aims to make industry knowledge easier to access while keeping rave culture at the centre of the discussion.
Map Point Summit Joins EDC Week in Las Vegas
Holding the first summit between EDC’s two May weekends gives the event direct access to a period when much of the electronic music industry will already be in Las Vegas. Artists, promoters, creators and industry professionals attending events around EDC will have three additional days to meet, learn and discuss the business behind the culture.
Insomniac and Amsterdam Dance Event will reveal speakers, sessions and ticket information over the coming months. Interest registration is already open through the official Map Point Summit website, with the inaugural event set for May 2027 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
