‘Heavy’ is one of those tracks that Axtone/Size fans would kill for nowadays. The progressive house alumni Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman and the Swedish House Mafia favorite Corey James combined on a track of seismic proportions that unfortunately didn’t make the cut.
Premiered on Axtone Presents by Corey James back in seemingly distant 2017, ‘Heavy’ sparked a plethora of interest from dance music’s biggest names including the Axtone boss Axwell. It was played afterward numerous times live by both acts, especially during the 2018 edition of Amsterdam Dance Event. Corey played this track on 3 different gatherings: D.O.D & Friends, Protocol Recordings stage and Third Party presents Release event. You can say for certain that the production reached a significant number of fans and enthusiasts. Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman played the track only once and that moment came in 2018’s edition of Electrobeach France.
Let us talk about the track. As almost every groove/electro house track goes, the first drop strikes with heaps of energy. ‘Heavy’ is no exception. The lead sound is reminiscent of the future rave sound that is dominating the scene these days. The captivating melody keeps repeating itself accompanied by a well-made drum pattern as the break draws near. The break is nothing short of magic, a lush vocal introduces a superbly crafted break undoubtedly made by Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, being familiar with their musical style. A short buildup slowly announces what is to come in the second drop. The second drop adds even more energy to the already smashing first drop. The track ultimately ends leaving the listener craving for more.
As for the release of the production, not much is known. As already mentioned at the beginning of the article, the track was played only a couple of times by both acts. The future of the production is still not set in stone so we can only cross our fingers that the artists involved decide to bless our ears with an official release one day.
