Very few artists have seen their career rise just as quickly and deservedly such as Julian Cross. His first gig, at a local club in his hometown of Antwerp, came at the tender age of 15 and, less than two years later, he found himself playing to over 40,000 fans at Tomorrowland. Having previously released a handful of singles and remixes, chiefly on Belgian imprint AM:PM, 2020 is poised to be the year that the Dutch artist would leave his mark on the global dance scene, with debut album ‘Nebula’ set to drop next month. As the title suggests, the LP is inspired by outer space and science fiction, with Julian summarising the vibe of the album as “a little bit spacey and a little bit melodic”. Taking in a number of styles and genres – from house to electro to future bass – across its ten tracks, it’s this melodic nature that strings ‘Nebula’ together.
Taken from the upcoming album, his latest release ‘Inspired’ showcases that melodic spacey tone perfectly. Julian matches gripping and euphoric melodies with atmospheric sounds that add a unique tone to the overall production. The ever-present drum work in the single keeps the groove moving along with the male vocals adding memorability to the single. Each element on it’s own is great but when all combined together it leads to an exceptional production!
