Legendary producer Kurtis Mantronix marks the launch of his new label King Of The Beats with single ‘How Did You Know’, out now. A rework of the 2004 classic of the same name, ‘How Did You Know’ maintains the disco passion that makes the original so special, freshening things up with new vocals and delivering a more timeless sound. The track marks the first single from the legendary producer’s forthcoming album, set for release this autumn, with King Of The Beats also poised to sign and release fellow artists’ material.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do since my Sleeping Bag Records days, to have control of the A&R and creative direction of my own career,” Kurtis explains. “This dream has not come to fruition because I could never find the right team. Signing adeal with Last Man Music put all the planets into the right alignment, so to speak”.
One of the most influential early hip-hop producers, Kurtis Mantronix was the founding member and leader of ‘Mantronix’, producing numerous Hip Hop and Electro Funk classics under that moniker including ‘King Of The Beats’ & ‘Fresh Is The Word’. An illustrious solo career during the mid-90’s followed, Kurtis Mantronix was one of the go to producers and remixers during that time, fitting in well with the legion of big beat artists he had inspired and spawning several hits that continued well into the 00’s. He has collaborated with some of the most recognisable names in music, including Rihanna, Dido, Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Duran Duran and many, many more.
The launch of King Of The Beats and release of ‘How Did You Know’ marks the start of a new solo chapter in the story of one of the world’s most prominent producers.
