Mathieu Koss is on the rise. The French, Nancy-based DJ and producer’s reputation is growing rapidly. ‘Never Growing Up’ ft. Aloe Blacc was one of the biggest radio songs in France and Belgium in 2019, following up on his earlier streaming success ‘Big Jet Plane’ (with Alok) with more than 250 million streams. Last year he released collaborations with Ziggy Marley (‘Home’) and Lost Frequencies (‘Don’t Leave Me Now’), the latter starting in 38 New Music Fridays and ending up a Top 40 hit across Europe, with multiple golden & platinum awards. September 10th is the release of his new tune:‘Wicked Game Pt. II’, an uplifting remake from the classic Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’.
Love can be frightening for sure. Wherein the classic song ‘Wicked Game’ Chris Isaak is singing “No, I don’t wanna fall in love (this world is only gonna break your heart)” Mathieu Koss thought about the girl on the other side of this relationship. If he’s not willing to put it all on the line who’s gonna be the first to open up and let this romantic chapter in their lives begin. “I can’t make someone love me.” Two lovers torn between admitting they are in love (and thus accepting the pain that potentially could follow) and staying safe by being in denial and live their lives apart from each other, safe from harm. With these lyrics accompanied by soothing beats and melancholic melodies they captured the perfect soundtrack to a bittersweet love story.
