After teaming up with Klaas and Roland Clark with her last release, ‘Children’, which has now amassed over 1 million plays, MATTN is back with fresh new track ‘Lone Wolves’. With her previous collaboration being a huge success, this time MATTN has enlisted the help from mega-star Paris Hilton; premiering the track together at Ushuaïa this week and filming the hotly-anticipated music video.
Household name, Paris Hilton, gained fame as the heiress of the Hilton family and has a reputation of being one of the earliest influencers of the 21st Century. Also recognised for DJing, Paris featured at the likes of Burning Man, as well as holding down a residency in Ibiza at Amnesia where she hosted her “Foam & Diamonds” party for five consecutive years. More recently, Paris also featured on Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike‘s track ‘Best Friend’s Ass’ to critical acclaim, which also enlisted the help of Kim Kardashian for the music video, with the track already amassing nearly 4 million streams on Spotify alone.
The track opens without any musical instruments; just MATT simple layered vocals, which are distorted at length to different pitches. It’s not long before the track plunges into a tribal beat accompanied by pan flutes and a rounded bass, with Paris contributing vocals on the rap parts, before the bass drops out to expose airy synths as they shimmer above the melody. Merging between genres too, MATTN also adds elements of tropical house into the tribal mix, demonstrating her genre-hopping ability as well as her talent to shift dynamics continuously through the track.
As the first female artist on the Smash The House label, MATTN joins some of the biggest names in the business. Appearing alongside Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Afrojack, Axwell & Ingrosso and Steve Angello on the artist roster, the horizon is promising for MATTN as she once again demonstrates her skills in smoothly shifting between electronic and mainstream appeal.
