Hailing from the city of Los Angeles, Matthew Sierra, professionally known as Mt. Sierra, has come a long way as a producer and DJ before finally making his debut with uplifting dance gem “Mt. Joel.” The talented artist has always felt deeply attracted to the beautiful melodies and dance floor drive that genres like progressive house, tech house, and big room bring to the table. After diverging from his former moniker of Matt Yo, he is now ready to offer his own distinct take on those beloved genres.
“Mt. Joel” marks the very first single in Mt. Sierra’s musical journey. A stunning progressive house gem, it is driven by heavenly melodies, tech-house inspired drums, and rich textures, boasting a bright sound that pulls inspiration from the rave scene of the late 2000’s. As Mt. Sierra reveals, “Mt. Joel” marks the first of many singles he has stashed away ready for release, and acts as an ode to one of the most iconic electronic music producers: deadmau5.
“Prior to deciding to use this track as my debut, I couldn’t decide what to put out first. I am sitting on so much unreleased music, so it was a gargantuan task,” reveals Mt. Sierra.
When I thought back to the process of creating this tune during my time at Icon Collective, it only made sense that I release this first. I mean, It just felt right to pay tribute to someone who I consider to be one of my biggest inspirations. After giving it a listen, I think you can see where I’m coming from. It’s all in the synths.”
