New Year, New Memories: Why NEON Countdown 2024 is Unmissable

NEON Countdown is back with a bang!

As we gear up to close out the year, there’s no better place to reflect on everything that’s happened than NEON Countdown. This year’s edition is especially exciting, as Martin Garrix is set to headline with an exclusive New Year’s Eve set. For any NEON Countdown fan, this is massive—Garrix has only performed at Neon once before, back on New Year’s Day, so having him lead us into the new year is nothing short of magic.

As a loyal attendee since 2019, I can say without hesitation that NEON Countdown never disappoints. It has become a cornerstone of Neon Events, with its vibrant shows stretching across Asia, from Malaysia to China and, since 2019, Bangkok, Thailand. Today, NEON Countdown is more than just a festival; it’s a dynamic celebration that unites people from all walks of life, sharing in the joy of world-class music as we welcome the New Year together.

For first-timers or returning fans alike, here’s what you need to know:
Dates: 30-31 December, 2024
Venue: Wonder World Extreme Park, Bangkok, Thailand
Expected Attendance: Based on previous years and early ticket sales, NEON Countdown is expected to draw 15,000–20,000 attendees each night, filling Wonder World Extreme Park with an atmosphere like no other.

Imagine an old theme park turned into a NEON-lit playground for ravers, with a giant ferris wheel casting an enchanting glow over NEON attendees, and standing tall parallel to the NEON stage—a sight that has to be seen to be believed.

What To Expect From Neon

This year’s Phase 1 lineup is nothing short of spectacular. Alongside Martin Garrix, we’ll see powerhouse acts like Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, MRAK, Lost Frequencies, and Indira Paganotto, with more artists to be announced.

For me, seeing Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike back at NEON Countdown is a thrill—they first played here in 2019, then again in 2022, and both sets were pure magic. They say the third time’s the charm, so I can only imagine how unforgettable their set will be this year.

But NEON Countdown isn’t just about the big names. Last year, I was in the PGA zone as the sun set behind the Neon stage, and it felt like a scene from a fairytale—a surreal, almost dreamlike moment. Later, when I found myself right in front of the stage during Blasterjaxx’s set, the outside world just melted away; it was just me, the music, and the crowd moving as one. It’s moments like these that make NEON Countdown truly unforgettable.

NEON Countdown is more than a festival—it’s a welcoming haven that brings together people from around the world. I’ve met attendees from across Asia and beyond, and some of my closest friendships were forged right here at Neon. There’s a special energy, an almost magnetic aura, that makes everyone feel like they belong to something extraordinary.

Festival Highlights

From the moment you step in, NEON Countdown immerses you in a vibrant world of lights, music, and unforgettable visuals. Here are some highlights that make Neon Countdown unlike any other festival:

  1. The Illuminated Entry Tunnel:
Right from the entrance, you’re transported to another world. Walking through the glowing, color-lit tunnel, you feel a buzz of excitement that builds with every step, setting the perfect tone for the night ahead.

2. Walkway of NEON’s Artists:
As you make your way deeper into the grounds, you’ll walk through a pathway showcasing NEON Countdown’s stellar lineup. It’s a powerful reminder of the festival’s legacy and all the incredible talent that has graced its stages.

3. Inside NEON Walkway:
Another walkway inside the festival grounds glows in neon lights, creating an atmosphere that’s both vibrant and electric. With neon lights guiding you, this path gives you a moment to feel the energy building up before the music even starts.

4. Four-Faced Photo Op Box:
One of the most unique photo spots is the four-faced box adorned with neon signs and vibrant wordings. This cube of color and light invites festival-goers to snap photos from every angle, making it a perfect stop for capturing the spirit of the night.

5. Whimsical Photo Ops:
Throughout the park, you’ll find photo spots with butterfly motifs, neon accents, and whimsical designs. Each corner invites you to capture the magic, giving festival-goers the perfect backdrop for unforgettable memories.

6. NEON Garden Zone:
This peaceful oasis offers a relaxed vibe and houses the festival’s second stage. As night falls, the NEON Garden lights up like a dreamscape, creating a surreal setting where you can unwind, soak in the ambiance, or dance to a more intimate beat.

7. Chill Zones with Swings:
After exploring the NEON Garden, take a moment to relax in the nearby chill zones, complete with swings for lounging. These cozy spaces let you recharge and connect with friends while still feeling part of the festival’s energy.

8. Food Zone with a View:
The food zone is designed to keep you connected to the music—thanks to a large screen TV showing everything happening on the main stage, you don’t have to miss a single beat while grabbing a bite. It’s perfect for those who want to fuel up without missing out.

9. Hair and Makeup Station:
Located in the NEON Garden, this station lets you add a touch of glam to your look, adding sparkle and color for a night that truly shines as you welcome the New Year.

10. PGA Zone:
For those wanting an elevated experience, the PGA Zone, situated to the left of the main stage, offers unmatched views, premium drink options, and standing tables, making it the perfect place to enjoy the festival in style.

Amenities and Festival Experience

NEON Countdown goes beyond the music to offer everything you need for a comfortable,
worry-free experience:

Food & Beverages: From international bites to satisfying meals, including vegetarian
and vegan options, you’ll find a variety of options to keep you fueled and dancing all
night.
Onsite Facilities: Need to recharge? ATMs, portable chargers, and medical aid stations
are conveniently located throughout the venue. Pack light with a small bag or hydration
pack, and know that security is top-notch to ensure a smooth, safe entry.

To be part of this incredible NYE experience, here’s a breakdown of ticket options:

dancing under the neon lights, counting down to midnight with thousands of other fans, and
watching as the New Year unfolds to the beat of the music.

If you’re searching for a New Year’s Eve like no other, NEON Countdown is the place to be!

Sporty-O is once again breaking down the barriers between genres with the release of his thumping new EP ‘Symphonic Resistance.’

His music has been going viral with it being featured in over half a million videos on TikTok and amassing over a billion views through those videos. After releasing the amazing ‘Blue Lights’ to tease what was to come, he’s now unveiled the full force of ‘Symphonic Resistance.’

The EP kicks off strong with Sporty-O injecting his mix of hip hop and EDM into possibly the world’s most powerful chant, the haka. The track has a very tribal feel from the chant and the fantastic percussion, topped off with some super heavy synths. ‘Bumble Bee’ keeps the powerful synths coming and takes on a style reminiscent of some classic DJ Snake which is always a welcome sound to hear. Kicking on into track 3, ‘You A B***h’, Sporty-O really lets loose with a drop that hits like a train thanks to his excellent use of dynamics. Rounding off the EP is ‘Blue Lights’ which offers a shift in energy with a slightly calmer feel that still pumps out tonnes of dancefloor energy.

Sporty-O’s past productions have wracked up plenty of accolades for him with his tracks getting support from the likes of Afrojack, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwell, Nicky Romero, and many more. Also, his discography has ventured across several major labels including Virgin Music, Jungle Cakes, and Zone Records. All this success has earned him spots on some of the biggest stages in the world from Tomorrowland to Ultra Music Festival. It’s a repertoire that is truly mind-blowing and is one that is sure to continue expanding with the release of ‘Symphonic Resistance.’

Sporty-O said of the EP: “Symphonic Resistance is a musical celebration of melodies, harmonies and concepts that effortlessly & colourfully dance outside of the norm while encouraging the listener to embrace creative & artistic freedom in every aspect of life — because you only live once. Why live that life like everybody else!”

Sporty-O takes inspiration from all the right places on this EP with a sound similar to that of the legendary Jauz. However, the EP is no mere replica of others work as Sporty-O’s unique style shines through, and he continues to impress with his production skills.
