After nearly 13 years at Sound Nightclub, AC Slater’s Night Bass will bring its long-running Los Angeles club night to an end on December 3, 2026.

Night Bass will host its final show at Sound Nightclub on December 3, closing a run that began at the Hollywood venue in 2014. AC Slater originally launched the night as a place to play bass house, UK garage, bassline and grime at a time when those sounds had limited representation in American clubs. The event later developed into Night Bass Records, which officially launched the following year. For the final night at Sound, the label’s All-Star DJs will play throughout the evening as Night Bass closes the club residency where the project first began.

Night Bass Started at Sound Nightclub in 2014

Long before Night Bass became a record label, AC Slater was looking for somewhere in Los Angeles to regularly hear the music he was already playing. In interviews from the early years of the event, he explained that bass house, garage and bassline had few dedicated spaces in the city. His answer was to start his own monthly night at Sound Nightclub in January 2014.

The bookings quickly connected artists from the UK with audiences in Los Angeles, with early guests including Chris Lorenzo, Taiki Nulight, Hannah Wants, Shift K3Y, DJ EZ and MJ Cole. At the same time, Night Bass gave American listeners regular access to UK garage and bassline while bass-heavy house was gaining more attention across the country. Within its first year, the club night had already expanded beyond Los Angeles through a North American tour.

The Club Night Became Night Bass Records

After roughly a year and a half of events, AC Slater expanded the idea into Night Bass Records in 2015. The label released This Is Night Bass Vol. 1 on June 30, featuring music from AC Slater, Chris Lorenzo, Jack Beats, DJ Q, Taiki Nulight, Petey Clicks, Jay Robinson and GotSome. AC Slater later explained that he wanted the first release to represent the music the club night had already been supporting.

That same year, Night Bass also hosted a stage at EDC Las Vegas, taking the music associated with the Sound Nightclub residency to a much larger festival audience. The label continued releasing bass house, UK garage, bassline, grime and house in the years that followed, while the original Los Angeles night remained closely connected to where the project began.

The Sound Nightclub Residency Is Ending, Not Night Bass

Although December 3 will mark the final Night Bass event at Sound Nightclub, the team has made it clear that the record label itself will continue. In a message shared ahead of the public announcement, Night Bass said ending the residency will allow more attention to go toward the label and supporting newer artists within its community.

The final event will bring the club night back to the venue where AC Slater first launched it in 2014, with Night Bass All-Stars playing throughout the evening. After nearly 13 years at Sound Nightclub, the December show will close the original Los Angeles residency while Night Bass Records continues beyond it.
