‘Popcorn’, The Lost Gem From W&W And Firebeatz!

Of all the IDs W&W played throughout their career, this track is personally one of my most favorite unreleased tracks ever. This is one of many remakes of the classic with the same name ‘Popcorn’ by the late legendary composer; Gershon Kingsley (aka the Father of EDM). Like all W&W tracks, some may be released, some may never see the light. This track is no exception. Today, we explore ‘Popcorn’.

The track was first premiered at Electromar Festival, Spain in mid-2015, but officially announced in Tomorrowland the same year that this track is a collaboration with W&W. Everyone went even crazier when they announced it. At first, it was dubbed “The Working Title” until the rumor mill suggested it might be named “Popcorn” as the break has huge inspirations from the classic I mentioned above. People have been asking for it to be released since they first played it in 2015 and until to this day.

Time to talk about the structure of the track. The track starts with a very energetic break with the reminiscence of the melody of the original track, with W&W putting their signature elements to the break. The breakdown is the result of both duos and is still a very solid one, even in 2020. The drop is presumably Firebeatz as the track’s elements resemble the likes of ‘Invincible’, ‘Bombaclat’, and ‘GO’ to name a few. My favorite part of this track is when the first drop ends and transitions to the second break itself. It packs a higher kick and more power from the already powerful first break, making the listeners even more energetic to listen until the end of the track.

The last time this track was played with hype was around mid-2016 with the last time heard from Firebeatz. Since then, there has been no news about this track. The hype has been long dead for most people. However, Bigroom enthusiasts like us are still longing and asking for this track. Some of the keen fans have noticed Firebeatz played this track again sometime in 2018. But, it’s been 2 years since then and 5 years since Tomorrowland 2015. So, I’m betting it’ll never see the light of the day.
