Q-dance, founder of the hardstyle sound and organizer of the most popular hardstyle events worldwide, has announced today that the largest dance event in the Netherlands will get an online edition this year. The organization is organizing the three-day online experience ‘Defqon.1 at Home’ especially for its fans. All the beloved elements of the festival will return on this ultimate online Defqon.1 event, and it will feature over 80 artists in various locations. Defqon.1 at Home takes place from June 26th to 28th and can be experienced from the living room by every fan worldwide.
Q-dance wants to connect fans in these difficult times by bringing the signature Defqon.1 feeling to people’s homes in the last weekend of June. The festival weekend promises to be a true spectacle with energetic performances by the most famous artists from the harder styles. Every major part of the popular dance event makes its appearance during the three-day online festival. The weekend traditionally starts with The Gathering, fans can go from left to right in their living room during POWER HOUR: Six years of Insanity, and Defqon.1 wouldn’t be Defqon.1 if it didn’t end with a special end show called The Closing Ceremony. For the first time ever, fans will also be able to participate in The Q-dance Quiz: A live, interactive show element where fans around the world can compete against each other and test their knowledge within three themes, namely The Ultimate Hardstyle Quiz, The Defqon.1 Weekend Warriors Quiz and The Legendary 20 Years of Q-dance quiz. Participants will have the chance to win legendary prizes.
To unite hardstyle fans all over the world, Q-dance created a special anthem moment on Saturday night. All weekend warriors will play this year’s anthem at the same time on maximum volume to make sure hardstyle is heard.
While Defqon.1 in 2019 was the busiest edition ever with 78,000 people, this year, for the first time in 18 years, there won’t be a physical edition of the festival. Nevertheless, Q-dance is doing everything to make it a special weekend: “The world is turned upside down. We live in a bizarre time in which our industry has been hit hard. This applies not only to our organization and the people who work there but also to the hundreds of creatives and artists with whom we organize our beautiful events every year. That’s why we’ve pulled out all the stops to make it a special weekend this year, together with our fans from all over the world”, said Jonas Schmidt, Creative Director Defqon.1.
Q-dance is no stranger to live streaming. Not only were major festivals always broadcast live for those who stayed home, but a couple of months ago the organizer also launched Qonnect. A new concept that’s viewed by an average of one to two and a half million fans per broadcast worldwide. Q-dance wants to continue this positive development with this special edition of Defqon.1 at Home.
Defqon.1 at Home takes place on June 26th, 27nd, and 28th and can be viewed live on Q-dance.com. More information about the program and line-up will be announced soon on Q-dance’s social media channels and the official website.
