To mark International Women’s Day 2022, digital collectible platform RCRDSHP has announced a brand new 4-week mentorship program to support and elevate women in dance music. Five female artists will get access to four workshops led by RCRDSHP partners including top labels, artists, and producers. A special NFT pack celebrating women in dance music will also drop on March 8th with proceeds donated to an organization that supports women in music.

The mentorship program will see five women work on perfecting a new track which will then be available on RCRDSHP’s platform for purchase at the end of April. The workshops will include one-on-one coaching sessions where highly-respected expert mentors will share their experiences as well as insider tips and top tricks about the music industry. This will be followed by a RCRDSHP studio event where the community will work with Paulina Lara, RCRDSHP’s 3D Artist and Art Director, to help design the digital collectibles for the mentees tracks, similar in style to the platform’s popular Participate to Create events – a collaborative initiative that enables artists and fans to work together on the creation of music and art and engage in real-time with interviews, sets and a community voting system.RCRDSHP has partnered with LabelRadar for this program: to enter, hopefuls must set up a page and then submit a track as well as their portfolio. The mentors and a representative from RCRDSHP will then assess all applications and pick five winning female artists who will then be admitted to the program. On top of this, RCRDSHP’s special International Women’s Day 2022 drop will celebrate the platform’s talent with exclusives from key artists including vocalist Crystal Waters, a 30-year veteran and the voice behind the iconic and enduring hit ‘Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)’ from 1991. Since then she has continued to serve up big tracks and pick up over 100 million streams on Spotify and YouTube, and countless Billboard, MTV and ASCAP Songwriter awards. Formidable DJ, producer and singer-songwriter JES will also feature. She is the talent behind powerful and emotional hits like ‘I Won’t Let You Fall,’ ‘Awaken’ and ‘As The Rush Comes’ and has sold out shows across six continents while also securing two Billboard Number 1 singles. EDM innovator and platinum-selling singer Lena Leon hails from New York but her music is played all over the world. She is a go-to songwriter and vocalist for global talents like Tiësto & Dzeko, with whom she wrote and featured on the super smash hit ‘Halfway There’ and has amassed millions of Spotify plays and hit number 1 spot on charts around the world. Last but not least is award-winning British label boss, pioneering drum & bass artist and songwriter DJ Rap, who is one of the genre’s few female acts but most prominent stars. Revenue from the sales will be donated to an organization that supports women in music.Paula van der Waerden, Co-Founder and SVP Partnerships at RCRDSHP said on the initiative: “As a woman that has been working in this industry for the past 17 years, I have experienced first hand the inequality that women face on a professional and personal level. It’s inspiring to see the number of women in my professional circle increasing and I salute this. But we still have a long way to go. In order to achieve equality, it is important that we all showcase and support female talent. I’m very proud that RCRDSHP is contributing to this important cause, one that is very close to my heart.“
The artists involved all commented on the importance of the mentorship program, “I am so excited for this next chapter in music, I truly believe a platform such as RCRDSHP can be a gamechanger in the industry and in artists’ careers. I can’t wait to see the outcome and am grateful to be on this journey surrounded by all these extraordinary women.” says Crystal Waters. Lena Leon commented “Women in dance are often an afterthought. We’re frequently seen as only a “feature,” unfairly compensated for our time, and sometimes uncredited for songs we wrote and helped produce. The fact that RCRDSHP is putting the spotlight on women in dance in particular is so amazing and to be a part of this pack is a true honor!“ and Juliet Sikora added “Sharing my 20+ years of experience with goal-oriented and creative women is especially exciting. In my early days I would have liked someone to explain the business to me and take me by the hand.”Throughout the whole month of March, RCRDSHP will further celebrate all of the women signed to the platform by highlighting them with social media spotlights, daily drops of special packs, and live-streamed content on Twitch such as special artist Q&As and a line-up of female talents playing a day-long DJ set.
This exciting mentorship program is another innovative move from the already game-changing RCRDSHP platform.
