Released 10 Years Ago: Tiësto – Red Lights

A decade has passed since Tiësto, the Dutch dance music prodigy, released ‘Red Lights’ as the lead single from his fifth studio album, ‘A Town Called Paradise’. This track marked a significant shift in Tiësto‘s musical style, transitioning from his signature high-energy festival beats to a more radio-friendly, progressive/pop-dance hybrid. ‘Red Lights’ quickly soared in popularity, becoming a staple in Tiësto‘s global live performances and amassing over 250 million streams, cementing it as one of his most successful singles in recent years.

Tiësto, born Tijs Verwest, has been a monumental figure in the dance music scene since adopting his stage name in 1994. His journey is one of unprecedented success and influence, earning him a GRAMMY Award and platinum certifications. His accolades are extensive, including being named “The Greatest DJ of All Time” by Mixmag, “#1 DJ” by Rolling Stone, and “The Godfather of EDM” by Billboard. A trailblazer in the industry, Tiësto made history in 2004 as the first DJ to perform at the Olympic Games opening ceremony. His continued dominance is evident in his high-profile residencies and headline performances at major festivals like Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra, and Tomorrowland. Tiësto‘s influence extends beyond the DJ booth, setting the standard for success in the modern dance music world.
