Today we rewind all the way back to the 19th of August, 2011, when Calvin Harris released yet another worldwide smash in the form of ‘Feel So Close’. A single that changed his strategy, Calvin admitted he had to stop singing on his singles as he had so many ideas and his vocals would not cut it. “I needed to stop singing every song as I had all these ideas for female singers and my falsetto just wasn’t going to cut it. So I began producing with a new purpose, excited I could give my songs to real singers and finally move closer to the role I had always dreamt of in music.” he said. This change proved to be massive for the Scottish artist as this single would go on to dominate the charts, gaining over 1 billion streams online.
Across twelve years and five albums, Scotland’s Calvin Harris has set his own agenda for global domination. From the retro-centric vibes of his debut album, ‘I Created Disco’, to spearheading the American EDM explosion with third album ’18 Months’, to his most recent conceptual ‘LP Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1’, Calvin Harris‘ career has been underpinned by a desire to take his sound into new and meaningful avenues, crossing boundaries along the way.
