Released 12 Years Ago: Afrojack ft. Eva Simons – Take Over Control

Afrojack had gone from strength to strength since starting his own label Wall Recordings back in 2007 which soon accelerated a collection of quality releases from ‘Don’t Be’ to ‘Proper Introduction’ and ‘Thief’. In his field, Afrojack soon became considered as a genius producer and embarked on a series of collaborations with international artists such as David Guetta, Diplo, Kid Cudi, Laidback Luke, and Steve Angelo to name but a few. It wasn’t long until he returned to the clubs in 2008 with ‘Math’ and ‘Do My Dance’ and as predicted both tracks were quickly picked up by every big name on the scene. ‘Take Over Control’ the newest member to the ever-growing brood of hits looked set to follow in similar footsteps and it did just that. Afrojack teamed up with hot Dutch vocal talent Eva Simons and the results were astonishing. Since it’s release on the 13th of August 2010, this single has gained over 100 million online streams and hit the #1 spot on Billboard‘s “Dance/Mix Show Airplay”.

Nick van de Wall, aka Afrojack, is one of the most internationally successful DJs and producers to emerge from the Dutch dance music scene. A constant fixture of EDM festivals as well as the Top Ten of DJ Magazine’s annual Top 100 DJs poll, he has scored platinum-certified international hits such as ‘Take Over Control’ and ‘The Spark’, additionally co-writing or featuring on worldwide smashes by BeyoncéDavid Guetta, and Pitbull. Originally producing more stripped-down electro-house instrumentals during the 2000s, his music became more ambitious and maximalist by the early 2010s, helping inspire the moombahton subgenre and gradually incorporating pop, hip-hop, and R&B influences. His proper debut studio album, 2014’s ‘Forget the World’, included guest appearances by Snoop Dogg and Sting. Since then, he’s maintained a prolific release schedule as both Afrojack and NLW, somewhat returning to his earlier, more underground sound with recordings such as 2018’s ‘Press Play’.
