Twelve years ago, a momentous collaboration in the dance music world took place. Swedish House Mafia, the iconic Swedish supergroup, joined forces with the hard-hitting electro duo Knife Party. The result was ‘Antidote’, a single released on December 16, 2011, that has remained a standout track over the years. It became one of the highlights during the much-celebrated comeback of Swedish House Mafia in 2018, showcasing its enduring appeal.
Swedish House Mafia, comprising Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello, rose to fame in the early 2010s. Formed in 2008, disbanded in 2013, and reformed in 2018, they were behind numerous legendary dance anthems like ‘Don’t You Worry Child’, ‘Save The World’, ‘One (Your Name)’, and ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’ featuring UK rapper Tinie Tempah. Their influence and contribution to the dance music landscape have been monumental.
On the other side of this collaboration were Gareth McGrillen and Rob Swire, the minds behind Knife Party. Known for their dynamic live performances and unique production style, Knife Party began as a side project but quickly became a leading act in the dance music scene. Their collaboration with Swedish House Mafia on ‘Antidote’ marked a significant milestone, earning multi-platinum status early in their career. Following this success, Knife Party released several globally charting EPs and their debut full-length album, ‘Abandon Ship’, in 2014, solidifying their position as influential artists in the electronic music genre.
