Released 13 Years Ago: David Guetta’s Smash Hit ‘Without You’

David Guetta is without a doubt one of the biggest catalysts for starting the massive popularity of EDM in the early 2010’s releasing a consistent stream of huge chart hits. The release of his fifth studio album ‘Nothing But The Beat’ brought along a series of iconic David Guetta hits including ‘Titanium’, ‘Where Them Girls At’ and of the course the incredible club bouncing ballad ‘Without You.’

Adding to the long list of huge collaborations on the album, Usher would feature on the track providing his now unforgettable vocals. Guetta chose him for ‘Without You’ as the energy on the instrumental shifts from being a very emotional song to being a high energy dance track which are both genres of music that Usher was well renowned for making him the perfect fit. The blending of Guetta’s incredible production and Usher’s smooth vocals were a match made in heaven and created a beautiful track that has the power to take you on a journey. While the vocals tell the story of living life without someone you love, the chorus switches up the energy with both the vocals and the instrumental providing a much more uplifting feeling.

‘Without You’ had brilliant commercial success going double platinum in the United States and hitting the charts around world. The song has since received over 480 million streams on Spotify and even 13 years after its release still remains a highlight of David Guetta’s DJ sets. This crazy crossover of emotional ballad and club banger has become one of the French DJs most revered tracks that will forever be a welcomed song on the dancefloors of the club and out in the fields of festivals.
